Where to stay

I stayed at The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver, and this is one of those properties that truly stands out because of how it feels. It’s still close to everything, but the setting right on the water next to Stanley Park makes it feel like a little escape.

The view you don’t stop watching

Every single day, all day long, I found myself just watching the planes land right in front of the hotel. They come in so smoothly over the water, and then you can actually see them pull up and gas up at the little station out on the harbor.

Between that, the sailboats in the marina, and Stanley Park in the distance, it’s one of the prettiest hotel views. It’s one of those things you just keep watching over and over again.

Pool, winter fun, and wellness

One of the biggest highlights for us was the outdoor pool, especially in the winter.

The pool is heated, so we were able to swim outside even when it was cold, which made it so much fun. What made it even better were the outdoor wood saunas. Being able to run back and forth between the heated pool and the sauna added a whole new level of excitement, especially for families.

It’s one of those experiences that feels a little adventurous and different in the best way.

There is an indoor and very large outdoor pool to enjoy year-round.

Morning walks and outdoor living

Walking the path right in front of the hotel along the water was honestly magical.

You can step right onto the Seawall and just go, whether it’s for a walk, a run, or a bike ride. The views the entire way, water, mountains, and the city skyline, are incredible.

Perfect for families

This hotel is such a great choice for families.

Between the kids’ cooking classes, the pool and sauna experience, and the easy access to the park and outdoor space, there’s always something to do without ever feeling rushed.

Dining and little moments

We absolutely loved breakfast at H2 Kitchen + Bar. The food was incredible, the service was so friendly, and sitting there in the morning with views of the pool made it such a relaxing start to the day.

For something a little more special, afternoon tea here is such a fun experience, tea, pastries, and light bites in a beautiful setting.

At H Tasting Lounge, the winter igloos are such a highlight. Sitting outside in a cozy igloo with blankets and heaters right on the water is such a unique experience.

And if you’re looking to unwind, Vida Spa is a great place to relax after a day out.

Restaurants right next door on the water

One of the best parts of staying here is how many great restaurants are right along the water next to the hotel.

  • Cardero’s Restaurant: Right on the marina, a fun and lively spot. What to order: seafood pasta, grilled salmon, and key lime pie.

  • Lift Bar Grill View: Beautiful waterfront views, especially at sunset. What to order: sushi rolls, steak, and a chocolate dessert with a cocktail.

  • Cactus Club Cafe Coal Harbour: A great mix of casual and elevated right on the water. What to order: sushi, steak, and cheesecake with a margarita

A fun stop: Public Market lunch

One of the easiest and most fun things to add is heading over to Granville Island Public Market.

It’s perfect for lunch, everyone can grab something different, from sandwiches to fresh seafood to sweet treats, and just enjoy walking around.

Why this stay just works

This hotel is perfect if you want a mix of city and nature.

It’s especially great for:

  • Runners

  • Families

  • Anyone wanting a more relaxed Vancouver stay

Final thoughts

This is one of those stays where you really get the best of Vancouver.

Between swimming outside in the winter, running between the pool and sauna, walking the waterfront, and watching the planes and boats all day long, it’s such a fun and memorable experience.

It’s easy, scenic, and one I would absolutely go back to.

This was magical to walk down during the holidays.

Skiing with a view at nearby Cypress Mountain. Grouse Mountain nearby and Whistler Blackcomb an hour and a half away.

Need to know

  • Bring a swimsuit, even in the winter, the outdoor heated pool and saunas are a must and one of the most fun parts of staying at The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver.

  • Pack a light jacket and layers, the weather can change quickly, especially by the water, and mornings and evenings can feel cool.

  • Comfortable walking or running shoes are key since you’ll want to take full advantage of the Seawall right outside the hotel.

  • If you plan to dine in the igloos at H Tasting Lounge, make a reservation ahead of time, they’re very popular.

  • And don’t forget your camera or phone, between the planes landing, sailboats, and views of Stanley Park, you’ll want to capture it all.
