Curator’s statement
The Fairmont Waterfront immediately stood out to me the moment I walked in, it felt grand, welcoming, and perfectly placed right on the harbor. What makes it so special is the setting, with views all around, from cruise ships docked nearby to seaplanes flying in and out, which is such a unique Vancouver experience. Even just doing a quick visit, it felt like a place where you could really sit back and take it all in. It’s one of those hotels where the location alone creates the entire experience.

I recently toured the Pan Pacific Vancouver, and this is the hotel people are talking about when they say you are staying right on top of the cruise ships. It is actually built into Canada Place, which makes it one of the most convenient and unique hotel locations you can find.
This is hands down the number one location if you are going on a cruise or coming back from one. You can literally take an elevator down from the hotel into the cruise terminal, which makes your travel day completely stress-free.

First impressions & location
The moment you walk in, you realize how special this location is. The hotel sits right on the water, and everywhere you turn you have views of the harbor, mountains, cruise ships, and seaplanes flying in and out.
It’s one of those places where you don’t even feel like you need to leave because everything happening outside is part of the experience.

Rooms & views
The rooms here are all about the views.
Harbor view rooms are the ones to book, where you can actually look down and see the cruise ships docked below. Watching the ships come in early in the morning or seeing the activity at the port is such a unique experience.
You’ll also see seaplanes taking off and landing throughout the day, which adds to that classic Vancouver feel.
Suites take it up a level with more space and even better panoramic views of the water and mountains.
Dining & afternoon tea
Dining here is easy and all about the views.
Oceans 999 is perfect for breakfast or something more casual with waterfront views.
Five Sails Restaurant is the more elevated dining experience right in the building.
What to order:
Main: Fresh seafood or filet
Drink: Champagne or a glass of wine
Dessert: Soufflé or chocolate dessert
And if you’re looking for something a little more relaxed but still special, afternoon tea here is such a nice experience. Sitting with tea, pastries, and light bites while looking out over the harbor and watching the ships and seaplanes go by is one of those simple but memorable moments.

Rooftop pool & amenities
One of the highlights here is the rooftop pool. Sitting outside with views of the harbor, cruise ships, and mountains is such a nice way to relax before or after a cruise. It feels calm, scenic, and a great place to unwind.
There’s also a fitness center, and everything about the hotel is designed to feel easy and convenient.
What’s around & easy exploring
Even though you’re right at the cruise terminal, you’re also in the middle of everything.
You can walk straight out to the Seawall and bike or stroll around Stanley Park.
Nearby, you also have Gastown. FlyOver Canada is right downstairs.
Excursions & add-ons
If you have extra time, there’s so much you can do.
Capilano Suspension Bridge
A drive to Whistler
A ferry to Victoria
Why this stay just works
This hotel is perfect for anyone cruising.
You truly cannot get closer. Being able to take an elevator down to the terminal changes everything. No stress, no rushing, no worrying about transportation.
It’s also great for first-time visitors since everything is right outside your door.
Final thoughts
This is one of those stays where the location is the experience.
Waking up and seeing the cruise ships right below you or watching the seaplanes come in and out is something you don’t forget.
I would absolutely stay here before a cruise. You really can’t beat the convenience.
It’s easy, it’s unique, and it makes the start of your trip feel seamless.
Need to know
Bring a lightweight rain jacket. Even on sunny days, Vancouver weather can change quickly, especially by the water. Comfortable walking shoes are a must since you’ll be out exploring the harbor and parks.
If you’re cruising from Canada Place, plan to stay the night before so your travel day feels easy and stress-free.
Don’t forget layers. Mornings and evenings can be cool, but afternoons can warm up, so it’s nice to be able to adjust as you go.
