Curator’s statement
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has always been such a special place for me—I’ve been coming here since it first opened, and it’s still one of my favorite Disney hotels. I love how you can hop on a boat straight to Magic Kingdom or head over to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground for the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. It just makes everything feel easy and fun. Some of my favorite moments are actually the quiet ones, sitting by the lake, taking in the scenery, and watching the Electrical Water Parade go by. It’s one of those resorts where you can slow down a bit and really enjoy the magic.

Growing up in Florida, this was one of those places we came to all the time. It felt like every other month we were at Disney, and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge was always in the mix. Now coming back as a parent with my own kids, I’ve done all of this with them so many times, and it somehow never gets old.
The hotel itself is just so special. It’s modeled after the grand national park lodges out West—think Yellowstone vibes—with the huge lobby, the wood beams, and that cozy, tucked-away feeling. And one of the coolest things the kids still get excited about is the geyser that goes off throughout the day right on the water. We always try to time it just right to catch it. It’s such a fun little moment.

It’s such a great spot for late nights at Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. We’ve done those long park days where everyone is exhausted, and getting back is still easy. We’ve taken the boats so many times, whether it’s heading to Magic Kingdom or over to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground for the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, which is always such a fun night.

Some of my favorite moments, though are the slower ones. We’ll head to Geyser Point Bar & Grill, grab an appetizer or a drink, and just sit by the lake. At night, we’ve watched the Electrical Water Pageant go by more times than I can count, it’s simple, but it never gets old.
We’ve eaten at Whispering Canyon Cafe so many times over the years. It’s always fun, a little loud, and the kids love it. Definitely make reservations for this one. But honestly, just as many times, the kids have pulled me into Roaring Fork for a quick treat. We’ll grab something and sit outside by the pool, and I always end up adding a coffee for myself just to keep up.
And speaking of the pool, we’ve spent so many afternoons there. The slide is perfect for kids, and there are always activities going on. We’ve done the marshmallow roasting at night, watched movies under the stars, played on the lawn, even rented boats and gone fishing right from the property. There’s beach volleyball, an arcade when they need a break, and even a jogging path if I’m feeling ambitious.

I'm a kid at heart.

On longer stays, I’ve definitely used the laundry room more than once, throwing in wet clothes after a full park day. It’s one of those things you don’t think about until you need it. And if you want to make things even easier, Club Level is such a nice upgrade. They’ll help with dining, park tickets, all of it.
Location
Getting around is so easy, which is part of why I love this resort so much. We’ve used the boats, buses, even the Minnie Van Service a few times, and everything just works. You can get to all the parks, Disney Springs, wherever you want to go without stress.
We’ve done all the parks from here, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and even added in the water parks like Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach. It’s such a great home base for all of it.
It’s one of those places that has been part of my life for so long, and now getting to share it with my kids, doing the same things over and over again, it just means even more. It’s cozy, it’s fun, and it’s full of those little moments that end up being your favorite memories.

Need to know
Don’t forget sunscreen, even on cloudy days, and a hat or cover-up for long park days or afternoons by the pool. The Florida sun sneaks up on you fast.
I’d also make a few dining reservations ahead of time and bring a light rain jacket or poncho. The weather can change quickly, and having a loose plan makes the days feel so much easier.
