Let us help you find the perfect setting to kick-start life with your partner. Below, we break down over a dozen of the best honeymoon destinations, all recommended by Fora’s travel experts, many of whom celebrated their own honeymoons in these places.

Bali, Indonesia

Out of dozens of responses from our advisor community, no other honeymoon destination in the world had as many endorsements as Bali.

“Bali is exotic: It has a little of everything, from beautiful Hindu Temples and UNESCO rice terraces to world-class surfing, therapeutic spas and a rich and complex culture — and of course, delicious food,” Fora Advisor Nadia Schwartz said.

As for places to stay, Fora Advisor Mariela Reyes highlighted Four Seasons’ Bali properties: “In Ubud, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan provides a peaceful escape with luxurious villas overlooking the Ayung River, private pools and immersive experiences like yoga and Balinese cooking classes.”

Also go for the beachfront Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran. You’ll love its “spacious villas, stunning sunsets and direct beach access,” Mariela added.

Even better, luxury resorts and experiences tend to be more approachable priced in Bali. And there’s something for everyone here.

“Bali offers a great mix of nature, culture, relaxation and adventure so that it can meet any couple's ideal honeymoon with the right resort,” Fora X Advisor Alicia Anderson said.

Make it a tour of Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia is well connected by scenic waterways, short flights and, for the daring couple, rough roads through lush landscapes. Expanding your honeymoon to other countries in the region adds variety and adventure.

“My favorite honeymoon is combining Singapore with Bali and Sumba, Indonesia,” Fora X Advisor Ariann Bernstein said. “This gives you the perfect mix of city, culture and beach! Explore the city in Singapore. Experience the culture in Bali, visiting the temples and engaging in spiritual renewal. Finally, go to NIHI Sumba to enjoy surfing, their Spa Safari and relax on the beach watching the horses run free.”

  • Fora Reserve perks at NIHI Sumba include a $100 hotel credit, complimentary happy hour, daily minibar restocking, a tour of the Sumba Foundation projects, complimentary sea activities, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

Italy

Virtually all the best places to visit in Italy could serve as a perfect backdrop for a romantic couple’s trip. Adventure, relaxation, a healthy dose of both — Italy has it all. It’s the ideal place to start you and your partner’s next chapter.

“Sardinia, Puglia, Taormina, the Amalfi Coast, Florence — these are perfect for couples who want to mix beautiful beaches with amazing food and incredible sightseeing!” Fora Advisor Patricia Caruso said.

Embark on a road trip through Tuscany, savoring authentic Tuscan wines and gastronomy in picturesque cities such as Florence and Siena. Cruise along the Amalfi Coast, visiting charming and lively towns like Positano and Praiano. Experience the serenity and allure of Lake Como before venturing to Milan, the vibrant fashion capital of the Western world. Or get off the beaten path and visit the most unique places in Italy, like the island of Procida off Naples' coast or the ancient caves of Matera in the southeast.

“When it comes to the perfect honeymoon, Italy is always the answer,” Fora X Advisor Lindsay Richter said. “There are so many options to consider, and your advisor will work with you to pick the perfect Italian honeymoon locations for your travel style.”

For places to stay, Lindsay recommended The Place Firenze in Florence and J.K. Place Roma in Rome, among others.

  • Fora Reserve perks at The Place Firenze perks include a $100 food and beverage credit, a welcome drink, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

  • Foras Perks at J.K. Place Roma include a $100 food and beverage credit, daily breakfast and an upgrade whenever possible.

Spotlight: The Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is especially appealing as a honeymoon destination. The region, filled with picturesque coastal towns — like Sorrento, Capri and Positano — and a dramatic coastline, is stunningly beautiful.

“For lovers of the sea, you can’t go wrong hopping around the Amalfi Coast,” Fora X Advisor A'Rielle Thomas said. “The highlight of the trip would be a full day of sailing along the coast in your personal gozzo with a skipper. When you're not swimming or sipping limoncello, you'll port at various towns and villages for dining and site seeing.”

Spotlight: Sicily

Consider Sicily a snapshot of what Italy offers: Golden beaches and turquoise waters, rolling vineyards and ancient ruins, indulgent cuisine, charming villages. And the sunsets over the Mediterranean never disappoint.

“The largest island in the Mediterranean offers the perfect backdrop for the most memorable honeymoon,” Fora Advisor Kaya Flostrand said, of Sicily. “From the sweeping views of Taormina to the enchanting city islet of Ortigia and the Baroque grandeur of the cities of the Noto Valley, as well as the ever-looming presence of the Etna volcano, Sicily is set to leave a mark in every traveler’s heart and mind.”

African safari

Safaris offer a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon experience where you and your partner can enjoy thrilling, guided encounters with elephants, lions and other animals that inhabit the wilds of African countries.

“A safari is one of the most unforgettable trips you can experience, so why not enjoy one on your honeymoon?” Fora X Advisor Daryn Schwartz said. “Experiencing nature a few feet away from your caravan is a bucket-list moment.”

“It's magical, romantic and memorable,” Fora X Advisor Jennifer Lopez said of a South Africa safari honeymoon, in particular. “Luxury lodges, such as Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge, provide an incredible place to relax between safari outings — I like the idea of starting a life together with a trip of a lifetime.”

If you prefer variety, A'Rielle recommended pairing a safari through Kruger National Park in South Africa with a stay in Cape Town or on the island of Mauritius.

“Kruger gives first-time safari-goers a chance to see the Big Five while staying at a luxurious camp,” she said. “My foodie couples love Cape Town's gastronomy, plus day trips to Table Mountain and the Winelands. Finally, capstone the trip with some lazy beach days at LUX* Grand Baie or One&Only Le Saint Géran.”

  • Fora Perks at Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge include complimentary air and concierge services.

  • Fora Perks at LUX* Grand Baie or One&Only Le Saint Géran include a $100 food and beverage credit, daily breakfast and an upgrade whenever possible.

Hawai‘i

Hawai‘i, the United States’ little slice of paradise, boasts gorgeous weather all year, incredible scenery and endless opportunities for relaxation and excitement. Among the best places to stay in Hawai‘i are the islands of Maui, Kauai, Oahu and the Big Island. You’ll find luxe beach resorts across all four islands, but each island offers a unique experience.

Honolulu’s electric nightlife and scenic beaches engage couples looking for a high-energy honeymoon on Oahu. Leave the confines of civilization behind while exploring Kauai or the Big Island’s untamed wilds, like the latter’s Volcanos National Park or the former’s Waimea Canyon State Park. If you prefer a honeymoon with a little bit of everything, Maui’s resorts are among the best in the world.

“Maui is my favorite honeymoon destination because it combines romance, relaxation and adventure,” Fora Advisor Carlie Lee said. “Get a couples' massage with the waves of the ocean in the background, go hiking in the bamboo forest, enjoy a sunset sail — the options are endless.”

Carlie recommended staying at Fairmont Kea Lani Maui or Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea.

Bora Bora or Mo'orea, French Polynesia

French Polynesia’s Bora Bora has long been one of the most coveted destinations for newlyweds to live out their island vacation dreams. The main part of the island — a long-extinct volcano — is surrounded by sapphire-blue lagoons boarded by barrier reefs brimming with all sorts of tropical species.

Fora X Daryn Schwartz Advisor highlighted Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora and The Brando, a villa-only resort in Tetiaroa, where you can “indulge in ultimate relaxation in your over-water bungalow.”

Both properties offer a plethora of activities, from cooking classes to deep-sea fishing, plus five-star dining and world-class spas. Bora Bora isn’t the only honeymoon-worthy destination in French Polynesia, though. Mo'orea is equally worthy of a stop.

“Listening to the ocean waves crash upon the moto while lying in bed, mere steps from the ocean, is so special,” Fora Advisor Amy Green said, referring to the many resorts that dot the island. “And many bungalows have a platform to rest on with your partner at night to look up at all the stars!”

  • When you book Four Seasons with Fora, you’ll enjoy exclusive Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits.

  • Fora Reserve perks at The Brando include a $100 food and beverage credit, daily breakfast and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

Scotland, the United Kingdom

Scotland is enchanting as a honeymoon destination. Explore historic cities, the rugged Highlands, serene lochs, world-renowned whiskey distilleries and picturesque islands like the Isle of Skye.

“What could be more romantic than staying in fairytale castles and living out your Outlander fantasies?” Fora Advisor Jonna Robertson said. “Scotland is a dream honeymoon destination, offering a perfect blend of romance, adventure and breathtaking scenery.”

Scotland is brimming with culture, too.

“To make your honeymoon even more special, you can partake in a traditional Scottish handfasting ceremony — a symbolic ritual of tying the knot that dates back centuries — set against the backdrop of Scotland’s rugged Highlands or historic castles,” Jonna added.

The Balmoral, one of our favorite hotels in Edinburgh is an iconic choice if you prefer to stay in the city. If you’d rather stay in the countryside, Crossbasket Castle is an excellent, dream-fulfilling castle outside Glasgow (see more Glasgow hotels).

Jonna also shared a pro tip about getting around Scotland: “With Scotland’s train system, exploring is easy, leaving you more time to enjoy an unforgettable honeymoon. No rental car required.”

  • Fora’s Rocco Forte Knights partner perks at The Balmoral, A Rocco Forte Hotel include a $100 food and beverage credit, daily breakfast and an upgrade whenever possible.

  • Fora Perks at Crossbasket Castle include welcome amenities, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

The Caribbean

The Caribbean is filled with beautiful honeymoon destinations. Stay in a luxe Caribbean Costa Rica resort, explore the best areas to stay in Puerto Rico or opt for something else entirely. You can’t go wrong. Every travel style is represented somewhere in the Caribbean, making the region a top choice whether you’re an adventure-seeking couple, on a budget or a discerning pair of travelers who want to spend your time in an élite resort.

“St. Lucia is a great option for a Caribbean honeymoon; it is beautiful and feels secluded and romantic,” Fora X Advisor Jennifer Lopez said. “Jade Mountain, [a top St. Lucia all-inclusive resort], is a fantastic luxury option. Almost all of the rooms have their own infinity pool, and all rooms have just three walls, so honeymooners can enjoy the incredible views at all times.”

  • Fora Perks at Jade Mountain include a $100 resort credit, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

The Greek Isles

Italy isn’t the only honeymoon destination in the Mediterranean, the best Greek Islands for couples — Paros, Santorini, Mykonos and more underrated gems like Folegandros — make a compelling case, too. Santorini’s magical sunsets provide a lovely backdrop for couples seeking a romantic getaway. Mykonos — the undisputed Greece nightlife capital — is an electric choice for couples looking for nonstop parties in the urban areas of the island (and quiet everywhere else). And Paros is an off-the-beaten-path destination perfect for couples who only prefer to relax among the idyllic island scenery. All feature some of the best couples' resorts in Greece, but there are dozens more islands, plus the Greek mainland, to choose from.

“The Greek Islands are romantic, authentic and suit different budgets and different types of honeymooners — like those who want to relax at an all-inclusive beach resort or active couples interested in hiking, diving, horseback riding and more,” Fora Advisor Chloe Kletsa said. “Combine a stay in the islands with Athens for lively, fun evenings, ancient ruins and Michelin-Star meals.”

Chloe also shared her hotel recommendations, including Canaves Ena in Santorini and Parīlio in Paros (one of the best places to stay in Paros, Greece). Both properties pair stellar views of the Aegean with excellent accommodations.

  • Fora Reserve perks at Canaves Ena include a $100 food and beverage credit, a welcome amenity, daily breakfast and an upgrade whenever possible.

  • Fora’s Design Hotels Collective partner perks at Parīlio, a Member of Design Hotels, include a €50 spa treatment for couples, daily breakfast and an upgrade whenever possible.

Mexico

Mexico is home to scenic shorelines, world-famous gastronomy and vibrant cities like CDMX (there are so many things to do in Mexico City for couples). The Old-World-meets-New-World city is rife with gorgeous architecture and a heritage cultivated by a thriving arts scene. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a fun, beachy setting for your honeymoon, there’s Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita, Cancún, the Riviera Maya… The list is plentiful, and like the islands of the Caribbean (which Mexico also touches), there’s a wide range of resorts that match every type of travel style.

“Riviera Maya is a fantastic honeymoon destination that’s easy to reach and offers great value for luxury,” Fora Advisor Mariela Reyes said. “For an unforgettable stay, Banyan Tree Mayakoba provides private villas with pools surrounded by lush mangroves and lagoons; it’s perfect for a serene escape.”

If you prefer a luxe all-inclusive resort, Mariela also highlighted Grand Velas Riviera Maya. (Grand Velas is also one of the best family resorts in Mexico, with separate amenities for children and adults.)

“Both resorts deliver romance, relaxation and a touch of adventure, making Riviera Maya an ideal spot for a honeymoon,” Mariela said.

  • Fora’s Accor Preferred by HERA partner perks at Banyan Tree Mayakoba include a $100 resort credit, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

  • Fora Perks at Grand Velas Riviera Maya include a $50 spa credit, complimentary hydrotherapy water treatment, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

Mallorca, Spain

Any part of Spain makes for an excellent honeymoon destination, but Mallorca is a standout choice. A Spain bucket-list destination, the island blends cultural richness with adventure and élite resorts.

“Mallorca has quickly become one of my most popular honeymoon destinations,” Fora Advisor Wonnie Baik said. “The island is absolutely breathtaking and offers more than enough to keep you exploring for a full week — or longer!”

Expect turquoise waters, dramatic cliffs and beautiful beaches.

“I always encourage my clients to explore different parts of the island, as each area has its own distinct vibe,” Wonnie added.

“One of Mallorca’s greatest appeals lies in its diverse landscapes, which provide the perfect setting for romance,” Fora Advisor Jacqueline de Guzman noted. “Its beaches, like the serene Cala Llombards and the expansive Es Trenc, are idyllic spots for lounging on soft sands or taking sunset strolls hand in hand.”

Wonnie and Jacqueline both recommended Belmond’s La Residencia, an exceptional resort in the historic village of Deià. Also don’t miss Cap Rocat, a converted fortress with Mediterranean views.

  • Fora’s Belmond Bellini Club partner perks include a $90 hotel credit, welcome amenities, daily breakfast and an upgrade whenever possible.

  • Fora Perks at Cap Rocat include a $100 food and beverage credit, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

New Zealand

New Zealand’s natural landscape has a well-served reputation, with everything from untouched beaches to majestic mountains and lush forests.

Fora X Advisor Rabia Malik described a honeymoon to New Zealand as “one of the most stunning trips you'll ever take.” She added, “pairing the culturally rich North Island with the scenic and breathtaking South Island, you can get everything from luxurious lodgings, beautiful vistas, adventurous experiences and delicious wine tasting.”

The country’s unique Māori tradition adds a rich cultural dimension, complementing serene landscapes and a welcoming atmosphere.

“New Zealand is a destination that has a combination of everything!” Fora Advisor Eliza Jameson, who honeymooned in the country, said.

She recommends Rosewood Cape Kidnappers, a luxe golf resort near Hawke Bay.

“While you may think it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, you will want to go back to New Zealand from the moment you leave!” Eliza said.

  • Fora’s Rosewood Elite partner perks at Rosewood Cape Kidnappers include welcome amenities, daily breakfast and an upgrade whenever possible.

Thailand

Indonesia isn’t the only great honeymoon destination in Southeast Asia. Thailand is an excellent choice catering to different budgets and styles of travel.

"Thailand has everything you could want for a honeymoon! Think stunning temples, dreamy sandy beaches, warm weather, mouth-watering street food and nightlife that’s always buzzing,” Fora Advisor Steve Michailidis said. “The best part? It’s amazing value for money. After a big wedding splurge, you can still treat yourselves to a luxury escape without blowing the budget — though if you wanted to go all out, Thailand absolutely makes that possible.”

Fora Advisor Kristin Staats, of Wander & Pour, spent her honeymoon here in 2014.

“You can choose luxury and indulgence in world-class resorts while simultaneously experiencing the authentic side of the country, whether through local food markets, water adventures or cultural tours,” she said.

Hotels and resorts in Thailand range from comfortable but casual boutique hotels to luxury resorts.

“When it comes to places to stay, you’re spoiled for choice,” Steve added. “In Bangkok, I love The Sukhothai Bangkok — it’s like a peaceful little hideaway in the middle of the city. For something sleek and modern, check out The Rosewood Bangkok. The stylish glass-and-steel vibe is super cool, and the service is next-level.”

  • Fora’s withIN by SLH partner perks at The Sukhothai Bangkok include a $50 hotel credit, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

  • Fora’s Rosewood Elite partner perks at The Rosewood Bangkok include welcome amenities, daily breakfast and an upgrade whenever possible.

Portugal

Portugal is an underrated choice for a honeymoon destination. The Southern European country boasts all the historical and cultural relevance of Italy and Spain, but with crowds half the size. Hotels in Lisbon and Porto are every bit as pleasant as those in the Mediterranean, but often come at more palatable rates.

That said, Portugal is very much its own destination.

“From vibrant cities to tranquil escapes, Portugal has it all,” Fora X Advisor Alexandra Hepworth said. “Wander Lisbon’s colorful streets, relax on the golden beaches of the Algarve or toast to love in the Douro Valley’s vineyards. Or for a quieter retreat, head to the Azores, where volcanic landscapes and natural hot springs set the scene for romance.”

Each destination has its own merits for being the best place to visit in Portugal, and all make for an excellent honeymoon. Alexandra recommended Palácio Ludovice in Lisbon, the former residence of João Federico Ludovice, a famous 18th-century architect. If you’re staying in the Algarve, she highlighted Octant Vila Monte, which sits on the border of Spain.

  • Fora Reserve Perks at Palácio Ludovice include a $100 food and beverage credit, welcome amenity and daily breakfast.

  • Fora Perks at Octant Vila Monte include a complimentary 50-minute massage for two, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
