We recently wrapped up an incredible seven-night Caribbean sailing aboard Ilma, the second ship in the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection fleet and our second voyage with the brand. When I think of destinations that embody everything I—and my clients—seek to experience through travel, Barcelona is always at the top of the list. This city’s soul is expressed through its tapas culture, its aperitivo hours with pintxos, and the vineyards just a short drive away. Centuries of history—marked by wars, occupations, and independence—have shaped not just the architecture, but also the cuisine and rhythm of daily life. There are endless opportunities to pop into places along one of the beautiful tree-lined streets for a quick tour like Casa Batllo or Mercat de Boqueria, so you’re experiencing the art and culture that helps define this great city. The visionary Antoni Gaudí, along with countless others, left an unmistakable mark on Barcelona’s architecture, food, and way of life.

The Sarasota area has quickly become one of our favorite “staycations” since moving to Tampa. Less than 90 minutes from home, it always greets us with something new to discover—from beautiful beaches and vibrant local culture to fresh dining spots and laid-back coastal charm. Since moving to Tampa a little over three years ago, one of our favorite parts of settling in has been exploring our new home state. Florida has so many incredible places that make you feel like you’re on vacation without ever needing to board a plane. One of the places we keep going back to is the Sarasota area. Every visit charms us in a new way. It’s close enough for a spontaneous day trip, yet has enough to offer for a full-blown family vacation, a girls’ weekend, or a peaceful long weekend away. There’s a vibrant arts and culture scene, fantastic restaurants, beautiful hotels, and of course those soft, sandy Gulf beaches—where you just might catch a glimpse of manatees or dolphins playing just offshore.

Even on just our second trip, we were struck again by how deeply hospitality runs through New Orleans. Everyone you meet, from musicians and bartenders to taxi drivers and antique dealers, seems genuinely invested in making sure you have the best time in their city.

Eastern Sicily offers a blend of history, culture, and quiet coastal charm. In a single day, you can wander Noto’s golden Baroque streets, then escape to the serene fishing village of Marzamemi, where the sea is your backdrop. From Nonnas welcoming you with a warm “buongiorno” to a seaside lunch of fresh tuna and local wine, every moment feels authentic and unspoiled. It’s Sicily beyond the crowds—intimate, flavorful, and unforgettable.
