We had the absolute pleasure of staying at The Barcelona EDITION before attending a wedding in October—and it completely lived up to the brand’s reputation. If you haven’t stayed at an EDITION before, the brand (a collaboration between legendary hotelier Ian Schrager of Studio 54 fame and Marriott Bonvoy) blends boutique character with five-star polish.
The Barcelona location delivers a flawless mix of service, design, and comfort—all tucked into one of the city’s most vibrant and dynamic neighborhoods.
The Barcelona EDITION sits in El Born, one of the city’s most creative and culinary neighborhoods. You’re minutes from the Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas, and Plaça de Catalunya, yet the hotel feels tucked away from the crowds.
Next door is the Santa Caterina Market, a local gem full of color and flavor, and the hotel features ingredients daily from the market. Grab a bar seat for afternoon tapas and a cerveza—a perfect local moment.

Rooms & amenities
With just 100 rooms, the property feels intimate yet offers thoughtful options for groups. Connecting penthouse and studio terraces provide ample indoor-outdoor space for gatherings up to 10. The nine suites feature corner views, soaking tubs, and living rooms separate from the bedrooms.
Our Deluxe Guest Room (one king bed) felt surprisingly spacious by European standards. The layout was smart and serene: a separate desk as well as a sofa that faced the lively street below—perfect for wine and cheese in plush robes. The dual vanity and walk-in shower made mornings easy, and the overall vibe struck that perfect balance between modern and cozy.
Food & drink
Each morning began with complimentary breakfast at Veraz, the stylish lobby restaurant sourcing ingredients straight from the market next door. Expect fresh Mediterranean dishes made to order and excellent coffee.
Later, the rooftop stole the show: panoramic views of Barcelona, craft cocktails, and a chic pool deck with sunbeds. For late nights, the Punch Room delivers world-class mixology in a dimly lit, intimate setting. It’s one of the best cocktail experiences in the city—and you have the benefit of going straight to the room after one of their specialties!

Service & special touches
From arrival, the staff made us feel completely at home. Though we arrived early, they greeted us with Café Americano, stored our luggage, and mapped out a mini walking tour to fill our morning.
Ahead of check-in, the concierge team sent a list of experiences and restaurants—all spot-on (don’t miss the Montserrat & Winery tour!).
And the icing on the cake? It happened to be my birthday, and the team surprised me with my favorite signature EDITION-scented Le Labo amenities, a plate of jamón ibérico and cheese, and a bottle of Spanish wine. I may have squealed—it was that thoughtful.
