We arrived in Bruges with no set plans, just a sense of adventure and curiosity about where the journey would take us. Stepping out of the station, cobblestone streets, serene canals and trees with golden-hued leaves, immediately charmed us. Their vines dipping gently into the water. The scene felt like it had been painted just for us.
Following the flow of fellow visitors, we found ourselves unable to resist capturing every moment. The historic buildings told silent stories of centuries past. In the distance, the majestic Sint-Salvatorskathedraal bell tower — part of Bruges' oldest parish church — beckoned us closer.

Inside, we were awestruck by the church’s rich collection of art and its deeply rooted history. Just steps away, we discovered canal tours and eagerly joined one. Gliding along the waterways, we learned fascinating tidbits about the city, from hidden spy windows to its long-standing breweries. The romance of Bruges was undeniable — it felt like we had walked straight into the pages of a storybook.
As hunger crept in, we made our way to Molenpoort, a quaint spot by the canal. We savored traditional Belgian stew paired with Zot beer, basking in the beautiful view beside us — a well-earned treat after our hours of wandering.

With no plans or deadlines, we roamed aimlessly through the streets and alleys, discovering hidden corners and picturesque scenes. Eventually, we found ourselves in De Burg, home to the Basilica of the Holy Blood. Though we arrived too late to witness the revered relic believed to contain the blood of Jesus Christ. But the intricate walls and stunning architecture of the basilica left us in awe.
As the sun dipped lower, we made our way to the Grote Markt, Bruges' bustling central square. Surrounded by charming shops and inviting restaurants, we indulged in a bit of souvenir shopping and soaked in the lively atmosphere. Horse-drawn carriages offered romantic tours of the square, adding another layer of magic to the experience.

On our way back to the station, the aroma of freshly baked goods and handmade chocolates teased our senses, making it nearly impossible to leave. Bruges had cast its spell on us — it was a place that felt both timeless and otherworldly.
If you're planning a trip to Belgium, Bruges should be at the very top of your list. This enchanting city isn’t just historic — it's pure magic, a destination straight out of a fairytale
