Curator’s statement
During the World Cup, Philly’s energy is unmatched, but it’s the experiences in the City of Brotherly Love that really tell its story. Each place I’ve included feels like stepping into a different part of Philadelphia’s soul: intimate, historic, and full of character. These are the locations where soccer fans can unwind in style between the excitement of game day.

Things to do in Philadelphia

Downtown Philadelphia
The Liberty Bell & Independence Hall: There’s something grounding about standing here. It feels like taking a quiet breath before diving into the city’s modern buzz, and you really sense the history that shaped everything around you.
Philadelphia Museum of Art & “Rocky Steps”: Even if you don’t go inside, standing on those steps with the skyline ahead feels iconic. If you do wander into the galleries, it’s peaceful, inspiring, and a perfect reset between the energy of match days.
Reading Terminal Market: If you love food, this is your playground. The energy, the smells, and the chatter make it a snapshot of Philly at its most authentic. Grab a cheesesteak or a fresh donut and just wander.
Mural Mile & Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens: Every corner feels like an open-air gallery. The murals tell stories of the city’s soul, and Magic Gardens feels almost dreamlike, like walking through someone’s imagination.
Eastern State Penitentiary: It’s haunting in the best way, with its mix of architecture, history, and reflection. You walk through the same halls that once held legends, and it makes you pause and think.
Old City & Society Hill Neighborhood: These cobblestone streets have a charm that’s hard to put into words. You’ll stumble upon tucked-away cafés, historic homes, and quiet corners that make you feel like you’ve time-traveled.
Fishtown or South Philly on Match Day: This is where the city’s energy really lives. Locals spill into bars, murals burst with color, and that shared hum of excitement makes you feel the community come alive.
The Barnes Foundation or The Rodin Museum: If you need a calm moment, these are your escapes. Beautiful, intimate spaces that remind you why art feels timeless.
Schuylkill River Trail & Boathouse Row: There’s something special about seeing the river light up in the evening. Take a slow walk, watch the rowers glide by, and let the city breathe around you.
One Liberty Observation Deck or a rooftop bar: At sunset, the city turns gold. Grab a drink, take in the view, and let it sink in. This is Philly in all its heart and grit.
