Things to do in the Baltic States
Tallinn, with all its small streets full of shops, cafés and history, will have you on a trail of discovery. Visit the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and check out the city viewpoints while on your way to the 14th-century city walls.
When in Riga, check out the House of the Blackheads and Dome Square, where the annual Christmas markets are held. If you have time, journey to Bauska for a medieval castle and a few minutes drive away, find Rundāle Palace Museum, a stunning baroque castle.
Vilnius has a mix of old and new. Stroll around the Palace of the Grand Dukes and the gardens behind it. Find yourself in the locally named Republic of Uzupis and check out a bunch of local artists' work here. Get your taste buds ready for culinary delights with lots of amazing restaurants and cafés serving top quality products.
Places to eat & drink in the Baltic States
Tallinn, Estonia:
RUKIS (brunch/lunch): This café-bakery has been serving up home-cooked meals and amazing coffee to locals and tourists alike for a long time. They sell fresh bread and stunning cakes and pastries, which are not to be missed.
Kohvik Must Puudel (dinner): A lovely restaurant which musters up creative and high-class dishes that might have you coming back for more. Try a few small dishes, like the mushroom risotto and arancini.
Riga, Latvia:
Conta specialty coffee (lunch/coffee): If you're looking for a small place for a coffee break and bite to eat, check out Conta. Their coffee is smooth, strong and delicious, while their stuffed croissants are so fresh and buttery with great fillings.
Vecmeita ar kaķi (dinner): If you love garlic bread, this place has some incredibly garlicky rye bread sticks waiting for you! A cute and quiet underground restaurant serving fantastic dishes not to be missed.
Vilnius, Lithuania:
Boulangerie Vilnius (breakfast): Grab a fresh, warm croissant or another of their great pastry selection with a great cup of coffee to start your day.
Lagom Bistro (lunch/dinner): An amazing lowkey restaurant bringing high-quality dishes from their small kitchen. Taking classic dishes and putting new spins on them to create insanely good meals. Try the schnitzel with baby potatoes!
Tachi Machi (dinner): This authentic Japanese restaurant serves up incredible okonomiyaki with delightful aromas greeting you as soon as you walk in. Grab some lotus root to pair with your main.
