Curator’s statement

After lots of research, I chose Antigua to visit for my honeymoon. The island is the perfect balance of relaxation, adventure, romance and culture. The island is known for its 365 beaches while being a 90 minute boat ride away from Barbuda where you can walk for miles down the pink sand beaches. The island is small enough to take a circumnavigation tour while being big enough to continuously find new adventures.

Day 1: Arrive in Antigua

You'll likely arrive to Antigua mid-day or early afternoon. After you land check in and settle into your hotel and hit the beach for the remaining hours of sunlight. Enjoy dinner at your resort and take a walk on the beach under the moonlight. Enjoy the evening entertainment available at your resort and get a good nigh't sleep after your travel day.

Day 2: Caribbean welcome

Start the day with some breakfast by the water at your resort and spend the majority of your day exploring your resort's amenities, pools, and beaches and don't forget the sunscreen.

Antigua is known for being 82 and sunny most of the year. If your second day is a Sunday, head to Shirley Heights to party with the locals and tourists from 4pm to 10pm. Shirley Heights looks out over the English Channel and has one of the most stunning view's in Antigua with a barbecue, local bands playing a mixture of Caribbean flavored music and international hits from over the decades and of course rum punch! Watching this view as the sun sets is truly magical!

Day 3: Boat tour

Antigua's Circumnavigation tour is a must! Spend the day with Nexus Tours on a catamaran ride around the entire picturesque Island. You will see some of the famous sites includes the Pillars of Hercules, Jolly Harbour, The English Harbour, Devil's Bridge, and Hell's Gate Island. You will make a stop at Cades Reef to snorkel, swim, and enjoy lunch on board.

Following snorkeling, the open bar will open for you to enjoy on the rest of the cruise. This is the best way to combine many of the other excursions available in Antigua into one. Return to your hotel for dinner and a drink to keep the night going.

If you're looking for more of a thrill, there are also Xtreme Circumnavigation tours on speedboats that includes a stop at Stingray City where you can swim with and hold stingrays.

Day 4: Day trip to Barbuda

Travel to Barbuda for the day to experience the beauty of the secluded, quiet and natural island. Jump on a 90 minute ferry ride with Barbuda Express where you can join them on a tour for the day or choose to explore on your own.

Barbuda has one city and the rest of the island is untouched with natural beauty and lots of birds at one of the largest Frigate Bird Colonies. Enjoy a long walk down 11 Mile Beach or the brightness of Pink Sand Beach.

Stop at Nobu for an exclusive lunch or enjoy some lobster included with your excursion (as long as it's not mating season).

Enjoy unsurpassed snorkeling and diving or relax in the sun on the beautiful beaches.

Bike and electric bike rentals are available for independent exploration of the island.

Ferry times vary based on the day but on average you will depart St. John's Antigua at 7:00am and depart Barbuda at 3:45pm.

At the end of your day, return to Antigua by Ferry and enjoy dinner in St. John's (the capital of Antigua) or head back to your resort for dinner.

Additional days

Spend additional days enjoying the perks and amenities of your resort, read a good book by the pool, enjoy the spa at your hotel with your resort credit for booking through Fora.
Other excursions to experience if you have time include:

  • Sail and Snorkel Cruise: spend the day on a catamaran going down the west coast of the Island to Cades reef for snorkeling followed by lunch and an open bar for your cruise back up the coast.

  • Safari and Stingray City tour: Take an open top jeep tour across the island and a catamaran to Stingray City to swim with and hold Stingrays.

  • Visit Pig's Paradise Antigua: You can paddle, pet, feed, and cuddle our friendly piglets on a secluded picturesque beach.

  • Mystic Sunset Cruise: 4 hour cruise around the island during golden hour with appetizers and an open bar for you to enjoy while you watch the sun dip behind the horizon with soft music in the background.

  • Rent a car and explore the island to find some secluded beaches that are only accessible with a short hike.

  • Take a scenic tour of Antigua or a food tour of Antigua if adventure isn't what you are looking for.
