Things to do on Barú & the Rosario Islands

When you’re surrounded by crystal-clear waters, soft white sand and the vibrant energy of the Caribbean, there’s no shortage of amazing things to experience. Here are my personal top six recommendations that capture the magic of Barú and the Rosario Islands — each one thoughtfully chosen to make your stay unforgettable.
1. Snorkeling or diving in the Rosario Coral Reefs
I always recommend this! The coral reefs here are alive with color and marine life. Whether you’re snorkeling or diving, the experience is magical. I’ll coordinate with trusted, certified guides for your safety and comfort.
2. Island hopping by private boat
Let’s design your perfect day at sea. I’ll arrange a private speedboat to explore secluded beaches, natural pools and secret picnic spots. You’ll feel like a movie star cruising the Caribbean.
3. Sunset at Playa Agua Azul (Barú)
I love ending a beach day here. The sunsets are glowing orange and pink — pure magic. Order a chilled rosé or a local rum cocktail, and just breathe it all in.
4. Beach massage & wellness rituals
Most of these hotels offer beachside massages, yoga at sunrise and body treatments using local ingredients like coconut oil or sea salt. It’s a lovely way to connect with yourself and disconnect from everything else.
5. Paddleboarding or kayaking in calm waters
Glide over the turquoise water — it’s meditative, beautiful and a gentle way to explore the coast. Especially lovely in the early morning.
6. Visit Oceanario or do a private marine tour
For families or marine life lovers, I recommend a visit to the local aquarium or organizing a private guided tour of the ecosystems around the islands. Educational and beautiful.
Places to eat & drink on Barú & the Rosario Islands

Sofitel Calablanca-Barú
Food is such a big part of the travel experience — and on these islands, it’s a true delight. Whether you’re craving fresh seafood by the beach, a romantic candlelit dinner or tropical cocktails with a view, these are my favorite spots that bring together flavor, atmosphere and that special island charm.
The restaurant at San Pedro de Majagua — Don’t miss this peaceful beachfront gem with excellent Caribbean dishes and the freshest catch of the day.
Las Islas Restaurant (Barú) — One of my top picks. Sophisticated Caribbean flavors, candlelight and perfect presentation.
Blue Apple Kitchen — Always fun and fresh. Their seafood risotto and coconut cocktails are a must.
Sofitel Calablanca (Tribute) — Last but not least, this is the place where my hospitality journey began. More than just a hotel, this is a symbol of elegance, warmth and the magic of serving with heart. Their culinary spaces still hold a special place in my recommendations.

How to get there: I’ll arrange private boat transfers directly from Cartagena. It’s fast, scenic and seamless.
Traveling with kids? Don’t worry! I can coordinate babysitting services even on the islands, so you can enjoy a romantic dinner or spa time without stress.
WiFi is limited: It’s part of the charm. Embrace the digital detox and let the Caribbean do its magic.
Are you ready to wake up to the sound of waves, sip your morning coffee with sand between your toes and experience the islands the way locals and luxury lovers do?
