Day 1: Fly into Buenos Aires
Fly overnight into Buenos Aires and start your day early with a traditional sanguche or choripan. Afterward, get ready to stretch off that jet lag with a bike tour of the city. This will be a great way to get a feel for the immensity of Buenos Aires (and identify which spots you want to hit up on your free day). At night, wind down with a glass of malbec in the trendy Palermo area.
Day 2: Museo Moderno
After a good night's sleep, have your morning coffee at famed Cafe Tortoni before heading out to your next stop, Museo Moderno. Soak in the unique exhibits before making your way to the market of San Telmo, where street vendors and unique shops line the streets. Tonight, you will get to enjoy dinner with a tango show.
Day 3: Explore or take a day trip
Today, choose between exploring some of the additional neighborhoods in Buenos Aires (Recoleta, La Boca, and Puerto Madero to name a few) or take a day trip out to one of the many neighboring regions (San Isidro is a highlight). If you're in the mood for a grand adventure, it's always possible to see the famous Iguazu Falls in one day.
Day 4: Time for Chile!
Today, you will make your way to a land of city, beachscapes and alien deserts, it's time for Chile! After a mid-day flight into Santiago, check into your hotel and head to the hip neighborhood of Barrio Yungay. Enjoy a tour of the local art, hidden restaurants and cafes, and begin to gain an appreciation for the Chilean way of life. After your tour, dine on some Chilean appetizers and have some drinks at Espacio Gárgola before heading back to your hotel.
Day 5: Baháʼí Temple of South America
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before trekking up to see the beautiful Baháʼí Temple of South America. Afterward make your way to downtown Santiago to explore all the city has to offer, learn about Chile's history, and end up in Mercado Central for a late lunch. Hike up San Cristoball Hill for views of the entire city, or if you'd like a more relaxed version, you can always take the funicular up.
Day 6 & 7: The famed Valparaiso
Today, you will make your way down to the famed Valparaiso to enjoy some fresh seafood, beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and if you're lucky, some sea lion sight-seeing! Spend the night at a beach-front property in Vina del Mar, where the sound of the ocean waves lapping against the shore will put you to sleep. Take Day Seven as a free day to do further sightseeing, enjoy a beach day or relax at an oceanside spa.
Day 8: Catch a flight to Calama
On Day 8, head back to Santiago to catch a flight to Calama, the entry point to the Atacama Desert! Head to San Pedro del Atacama to check into your desert lodge where you will be spending the next few nights. That afternoon, head to Valle de La Luna to get your first real taste of these otherworldly landscapes you will be submerged in.
Day 9, 10, 11 & 12: All outdoor everything
Over the next few days, enjoy desert hikes, biking through canyons and winding down in thermal spas.
Recommended day-to-day activities:
Day 9: Rainbow Valley and Baltinache Lagoon.
Day 10: Los Flamencos National Reserve (Chaxa) and Piedras Rojas. That evening, get out into the middle of the desert to go star gazing and see all the stars of the Milky Way galaxy.
Day 11: Bike through Valle de Catarpe. Continue onward to Garganta del Diable — either by bike or hiking. In the afternoon, unwind at the Puritama Hot Springs.
Day 12: Make your way back to Calama to catch your flight to Santiago.
Make sure you get plenty of photos of the alpacas and desert donkeys before leaving!
Pro tip: El Huerto is amazing for a daily lunch - rotating specials, cheap eats and delicious flavors (we dined here almost every day).
Day 13: Land of the Incas
Head to the Land of the Incas! Today, you fly into Peru! Land in Cuzco and grab your first meal of local Peruvian eats before resting up to head to Valle Segrada.
Day 14: Make your way to the Sacred Valley
Prior to making your way down to the Sacred Valley, where you will be in the footsteps of Incan legends, explore Cuzco in the morning. Check out Plaza de Armas and then walk up and down the hilly streets lined with museums, coffee shops, boutiques and hidden gems. In the afternoon, catch your transport and spend the rest of the day relaxing in your luxury resort.
Day 15: Explore three ancient Incan locations
Today, you will explore three locations critical to ancient Incans. The stone terraces of Ollantaytambo, the birthplace of agriculture in Moray, and the architectural wonders of the Maras Salt Flats.
Day 16: Experience the currents of the Urumbamba River
Spend the day braving the currents of the Urumbamba River while white-water rafting! Take a private transport where you will spend the day rafting, zip lining and warming up by the sauna. At night, sit by the fire of your hotel and enjoy a refreshing glass of pisco before getting some well-deserved zzz's.
Day 17: Rest day
Enjoy a much needed rest day, or take one of the many surrounding hikes to see the Incan relics tucked away in surrounding mountains. Tomorrow, you head to Machu Pichu!
Day 18: Inca rail train to Machu Pichu
Take the Inca rail train to Machu Pichu, one of the seven wonders of the world! The Inca Rail is truly worth the experience as you drive through mountain valleys, ruins and the ever-surging Urumbamba River. Don't forget you already tamed this days ago! Spend the day exploring this world heritage site and marvel at it's wonders.
