Curator’s statement
As someone born and raised in Los Angeles, I’d argue that Venice (not the one in Italy) is the one neighborhood that feels the most stereotypically Californian, in the best way possible: It’s right by the ocean and filled with sunkissed guys and gals either biking, skateboarding, or getting a bite to eat at one of the many amazing restaurants in this gorgeous part of this city. Venice is a place in Los Angeles that is consistently packed with tourists who mainly go for the iconic Venice Boardwalk, but there are so many underrated hidden gems in Venice that definitely need more love and recognition.

Things to do in Venice

These are some ridiculous coats I saw the last time I took a trip to Artists & Fleas! I'm telling you, this place is filled with such amazing gems.
1. Open Meditation: A breathwork, yoga and meditation studio that I absolutely love. I love the breath + sound classes, but all of their classes are amazing. They also serve tea after each class, which I think is really cute. Going to a class here is the perfect way to start your day (or wind down after a stressful one). Also, the studio itself is absolutely stunning.
2. Venice Soleil Nails & Spa: The most lively nail salon you’ll ever visit. Not only is it right by the ocean, but they also do karaoke on Fridays. Need I say more?
3. Mosaic Tile House: A quirky 1940s home that has been covered inside and out with colored tile and splintered-glass mosaics. It’s super quirky and colorful. If you’re an artsy person who likes anything a little offbeat (or simply put, somewhere extremely Instagrammable) this spot is so worth a visit.
4. Venice Canals: A historic Venice neighborhood filled with manmade canals and some of the most gorgeous homes in Los Angeles. It’s just a really lovely area to stroll through if you need a little peaceful little escape from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles (personally, I recommend walking through here around sunset).
5. Artists & Fleas: Venice: Artists & Fleas is a great flea market chain with locations in New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. The Los Angeles market is located in the heart of Venice and takes place every Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm. LA is full of incredible flea markets, and this one is definitely in my top three. It’s always packed with a diverse mix of vendors selling everything from clothing and candles to jewelry and more. I almost always leave with some cool new find in hand!
Places to eat & drink in Venice

This is inside The Canal Market! You can't tell me that this isn't absolutely adorable.
1. Wallflower: An eclectic Indonesian restaurant on Rose Ave that, in my opinion, has some of the best food in Los Angeles. Every dish is packed with so much flavor that you’ll want to try everything on the menu. The braised beef is my absolute favorite.
2. Little Lunch: A cute neighborhood coffee shop with a quaint menu of a variety of coffees and teas. This spot has a super laid-back surfer vibe and loads of seating. Overall, it's a great place to get work done.
3. The Canal Market: A tiny, charming neighborhood market in Venice that sells locally sourced foods, wines, snacks, pastries and more. They also have a cute outdoor patio where they occasionally host live jazz nights.
4. Gjelina: A trendy, rustic, farm-to-table restaurant on Abbot Kinney. This place has an amazing seasonal menu, with everything from wood-fired pizzas to ridiculous pastas. An absolute 10/10 (also, it’s almost always packed, so make sure to make a reservation).
5. Ospi: Phenomenal Southern Italian cuisine. Enough said.
Need to know
The only downside is that parking is very tricky in this area and valet parking is very expensive. If you're able to use ride share, I'd recommend it for exploring this area. I also recommend walking down Abbot Kinney and exploring the shops in that area.
