Curator’s statement
Tulum is so unique and magical that I was drawn to it for my destination wedding and honeymoon. It’s a blend of luxury and bohemian charm, offering a laid-back atmosphere with a mix of adventure. The wellness scene is thriving, yet it's full of vibrant EDM clubs. Tulum truly has it all, making it a perfect place for a honeymoon and somewhere I long to revisit year after year!

Things to do in Tulum, Mexico

Yäan Wellness Energy Healing Spa: I’ve had the privilege of participating in a Temazcal Ceremony led by a Mayan healer at Yaan Wellness Energy Healing Spa. The experience was truly unique and deeply bonding. Heated volcanic rocks from an open-air fire were brought into the Temazcal, and water was poured over them, creating steam to cleanse our bodies physically and emotionally. This is a must-try for any couple visiting Tulum!
Sound healing at Nômade Hotel: Take a sound healing class at the Nômade Hotel. Treat your mind to a healing session of vibrational therapy that enables a deeper connection with yourself. They have a weekly calendar with other wellness classes, including cacao ceremonies, ice bath challenges, Pilates, Mayan astrology and more! Classes are open to hotel guests and the public. Grab dinner at KUU while you’re there!
Tulum Mayan ruins: For a morning filled with history and breathtaking views, head to the Tulum Mayan ruins. Located just outside Tulum Centro, this archeological site is one of the most visited on the Riveria Maya. The castles and temples, perched on a hill overlooking the sea, are a sight to behold. While guided tours are available, I found the freedom to explore with my group quite enjoyable. Keep in mind, there isn’t much shade, so it's best to go early, pack sunscreen and wear a hat!
Book a private driver to Canamayte Cenote & Eco Park: My favorite (and lesser known) cenotes are Canamayte Cenotes! Located only 45 minutes outside Tulum, Canamayte offers open and closed cenotes, showers, changing rooms, hammocks and a restaurant/bar! Get there early, explore the cenotes and enjoy a few cocktails with your lunch. This is a perfect adventure to kickstart your honeymoon in Tulum!
Walk around SFER IK: SFER IK Museum is the premier destination for contemporary art. Experience the connection between the arts and nature in an awe-inspiring architectural landscape that will captivate your mind, body and spirit — a great place to visit before a romantic sunset dinner at Kin Toh.
Enjoy the authentic Tulum nightlife: Looking for a fun night out with dancing and yummy cocktails? Go to Casa Jaguar on Thursday and Gitano on Friday! Casa Jaguar is located in the heart of Tulum’s jungle and throws an outdoor garden party every Thursday night. Gitano is known for its Gypsy-Disco Fiesta, which is held every Friday night. We had a Thursday destination wedding in Tulum and kept the party going at Casa Jaguar after our reception.
Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve: There's no better way to spend your honeymoon in Tulum than taking a romantic sunset boat ride through the Sian Ka’an lagoons. Enjoy a charcuterie board, Mexican beer and fruit while you ride through Mangrove islands, water springs and Mayan temples. This ecological reserve has more than 528,000 acres of protected ecosystem and was known by the Mayans as the “tip of the sky.”
Places to eat & drink in Tulum, Mexico

WILD Tulum: WILD is nestled in the jungle, where the atmosphere is seductive and serene. Copal incense adds to the ambiance, and tables are set under the jungle's canopy. The restaurant showcases internationally inspired cuisine with a Mexican twist. I recommend starting with a mezcal tasting (with crickets, chocolate and orange slices) followed by the nine-course tasting menu. The beetroot salad is to die for!
Kin Toh: Book one of Kin Toh’s NESTs and enjoy a candlelit dinner overlooking the jungle and Caribbean Sea. The ambiance is cozy and chic, with a unique menu. I recommend going at sunset for the most beautiful views! Kin Toh is a must for any couple on their honeymoon in Tulum.
Tulumunchies Food Trucks: The perfect lunch or casual dinner spot is Tulumunchies Food Trucks, which features a bar and a variety of food trucks, including sushi and poke bowls, shawarma and falafel, tacos, pizza, cheeseburgers, crepes and ice cream. Truly one of my favorite spots in Tulum! You can’t go wrong with any of the food trucks, and the service at the bar is so authentic and personable. They even learned our names and would wave hello at us if we were just riding by on our bikes.
Burrito Amor: Burrito Amor is iconic for a reason! It boasts an extensive yet reasonably priced menu of vegan and gluten-free options served in a laid-back spot with a large covered terrace. Try the chilaquiles or al pastor-style pork burrito. This place is reason enough to venture into Tulum Centro.
Kuu: Embark on a personalized Japanese culinary journey and experience the artistry of Japanese cuisine in the omakase style (a form of Japanese dining in which guests leave it up to the chef to provide a tailored menu based on seasonality and available ingredients). Be sure to book reservations in advance, as there is limited availability.
NÜ: Dinner is served Thursday through Monday and blends diverse, locally sourced, organic and exotic ingredients from the Caribbean Sea and Mayan jungle. Our wedding and reception were held here! The Campeche prawns, lamb and Amores De Agave are must-tries.
Parole: Italian restaurant located in the heart of the jungle! Try the four-tomatoes burrata, pear and gorgonzola salad and spicy vodka rigatoni. Go there expecting a show of sparklers and a violinist with your dinner. A perfect way to celebrate your honeymoon in Tulum!
