My Story
I’m a Dutch-born travel advisor based in Rome, Italy for the past 10 years, with deep roots in Italy’s tourism world—from DMCs to bespoke food and wine tours. I help travelers experience Italy beyond the guidebooks: authentic food, rich culture, hidden gems, and effortless logistics. Think of me as your on-the-ground expert for a beautifully curated, stress-free Italian journey.
Travel Style
I’m all about slow travel with soul—savoring a city through its food, wandering local neighborhoods, and uncovering the stories that make a place come alive. I love designing trips that blend iconic highlights with authentic, meaningful moments: the cozy wine bar only locals know, the family-run trattoria, the hidden corners you’d never find in a guidebook. If you want a journey that feels personal, immersive, and thoughtfully curated, we’re a perfect match.

I recently had the pleasure of traveling to Egypt on a trip organized by my partner, Desiree, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
From the very beginning, everything was thoughtfully planned and clearly communicated. The itinerary was well balanced and allowed us to see an incredible amount in a relatively short time, including Cairo, the Pyramids and Sphinx, a Nile cruise visiting Luxor, Karnak, Edfu, Aswan, Abu Simbel, and finishing again in Cairo with visits to the new museum, mosques, churches, and the bustling bazaar.
Desiree handled all the planning and coordination with great attention to detail, making the trip smooth and stress-free. Whenever something needed adjusting along the way, she was responsive and quick to find solutions, which made a big difference during the trip.
What I appreciated most was how easy she made the entire process, from the initial planning to the logistics during the trip. It allowed us to simply enjoy the experience without worrying about the details.
I would definitely recommend Desiree to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and reliable travel advisor to help plan a memorable trip.

I thought the communication between us was excellent and we received all our tickets on time, along with clear information. So, it was well-organized! I give it a 5 out of 5.

Rome in 3 Days: A Guide for First Timers
Rome was the first place that truly stole my heart, and, even after living here for years, I still get goosebumps when I turn a corner and see the Colosseum peeking through a side street. As a Fora Advisor based in the city, I’m constantly asked how to "do" Rome right the first time without getting overwhelmed by the crowds or the chaos. This itinerary is my personal love letter to the city, curated to ensure you see the world-famous icons while still finding those quiet, authentic moments that make you fall in love with Italy. I’ve balanced the "must-sees" with my favorite local haunts to make sure your first Roman holiday is exactly as magical as you’ve always imagined.

Temples, Mosaics & Mediterranean Sunsets: 5 Days Across Sicily
There is a secret to seeing Sicily’s most iconic ancient wonders without the crowds: go in February. We found ourselves standing in the shadows of Greek temples and Roman mosaics under a surprisingly warm winter sun, enjoying an intimacy with these sites that is impossible in the summer. This five-day journey is my carefully crafted balance of intense archaeological discovery and those essential Sicilian dolce vita moments—think sunset cocktails in Sciacca and slow, seafood-filled dinners in the heart of Ortigia. It was one incredible site after another, and I couldn't wait to share this "low season" magic with you.

A 2-Day Archaeological Odyssey in Pozzuoli for History Lovers
Pozzuoli and the surrounding Phlegraean Fields offer an archaeological depth that rivals Rome, but with the added magic of a coastal Mediterranean setting. From diving over submerged Roman villas in Baia to standing in the massive underground chambers of the Flavian Amphitheatre in Pozzuoli, this region is a playground for history lovers. We spent two days discovering the most beautiful archeological sites by day and enjoying some delicious fish dinners by night. I could not, not share this with you!

Egyptian Adventures in 8 Days: From Cairo to the Nile and Beyond
When I was younger, my parents took me on a Nile cruise with a relaxing holiday in Hurghada and a day trip to Cairo. That trip has always stayed with me, and now, traveling with my partner, a real archaeologist, I knew I had to return. This time, we made Cairo our base, embarked on a spectacular Nile cruise to explore temples and tombs, and returned to the city to dive deeper into its history and vibrant culture. Egypt’s history, energy, and timeless landscapes make it a destination that leaves a lasting impression.

Experience Rome Like a Local: Aperitivo Favorites & Hotel Tips From an Insider
Rome is my home away from home, and for a person like myself who is passionate about wine and cocktails, the Italian aperitivo ritual was a treat to discover. I love how a spontaneous or planned aperivito—great food, local people, and relaxed, unhurried experiences that feel authentic, are brought together. Over the years, I’ve explored beyond the typical highlights and discovered the little streets, bars, and corners where Romans gather, creating memories that aren’t manufactured. Helping travelers find these genuine experiences and enjoy the city like a local is what makes planning trips to Rome so rewarding for me.
