Colorado offers the unique experience of "leaf peeping" for travelers who want a change from the classic East Coast tours. Peak colors are from September to early October. It is the chance to see clusters of golden Aspens whispering in the wind. Did you know that deer are often observed eating the bark for the medicinal qualities of aspirin?

Rocky Mountain National Park
Canyon drives along gentle river banks provide a backdrop of beauty and awe. Make sure to stop for the perfect photo opportunity. Start with a trip south of Denver to Manitou Springs. Drive or ride the cograil to the top of Pike's Peak and don't forget a walk in the Garden of the Gods. Add a fascinating side trip to Cripple Creek where you can try your luck at one of the many casinos and see the largest gold mine in North America. Continue your trip by booking a few nights in centrally located Golden, once the capital of Colorado.

Looking for things to do? Tour the Coors Brewery, hike Clear Creek, take a scenic drive on Lookout Mountain, or stop by the Buffalo Bill Museum. If you are feeling adventurous, continue north to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Seeing a herd of elk resting by Sheep Lake is mesmerizing.

Finally, rounding out a trip to Colorado may also include a concert at the world-renowned concert venue, Red Rocks. Expect an evening of beauty. Feel comfortable choosing any seat, but honestly the top row along the rocks allows for views of the Denver city lights that the most expensive seat can never offer. Meanwhile, you will realize that fall leaf colors were just the crowning touch to all the magic called Colorado.

Book early for the cograil to save on the ticket cost. Choose seats on the three-seat side/window for the best views. Manitou Springs offers a free shuttle, bus 33—look for the purple bus. Download the TravelStory App for self-guided tours through Garden of the Gods and many other Colorado sites. Take an e-bike tour of Garden of the Gods. Cherry Tree State Park offers scenic views of fall colors; the cost is $11. Book early and online for the Coors Brewery tour in Golden, which sells out fast. Love tea? Celestial Seasonings has a $6 tour of the tea plant in Boulder. Fun and informative. Golden has free parking at 10th and Archer. Walking paths along historic Clear Creek. Red Rocks parking: Arrive by 4:30 to have a parking spot in North Lot. If purchasing general admission, sit close to the top for easy access and an amazing few of the Denver lights as well as the stars above. The Fall River entrance is less busy when entering the Rocky Mountain National Park. Credit card only for fees.
