Things to do in San Miguel De Allende

From October 31 through November 2, join the vibrant Día de los Muertos celebration, a colorful Mexican tradition that honors and remembers deceased loved ones. This holiday includes parades, elaborate altars (ofrendas) decorated with candles, marigolds, and photographs, and traditional foods like pan de muerto.
La Parroquia San Miguel de Arcangel is a must-see. This iconic cathedral, known for its stunning Neo-Gothic facade, holds more than meets the eye. Beneath the alter lies a remarkable crypt. This is only accessible to the public once a year on Día de los Muertos, offering a rare glimpse into a hidden treasure of local history and devotion.
San Miguel de Allende is a vibrant hub for arts and culture. It hosts several standout festivals throughout the year. Two of my favorites are the Feria de Arte y Artesanias during the month of April. This is a local artisan fair in the main square, featuring handmade crafts, textiles, jewelry, and metal work. The second is The Art of the Story Festival in late October. This festival features immersive storytelling through writing, visual arts, and performance workshops.
Places to eat & drink in San Miguel De Allende

Inside Cafe is a unique rooftop breakfast must. Wonderful food, breathtaking views of the historic zone. The Mexican coffee is a rich symphony of flavor and tradition, with notes of chocolate, warm spices, and gentle citrus.
Altar Rooftop is a cut above the rest. If you’re searching for that sweet spot where vibrant flavors meet skyline views, Altar Rooftop is a must-visit. Located in the heart of Zona Central, this rooftop gem delivers more than just a meal—it crafts an experience. The bar is a celebration of mixology, offering a blend of timeless classics and inventive originals. Think house-distilled mezcal, premium tequilas, and a lineup of regional spirits and wines that speak of the land’s richness. But let’s talk about the star of the show: the adobo-marinated giant shrimp. Served with green pico de gallo, slices of ripe avocado, and a hint of cilantro, this dish is a flavorful journey.
Los Milagros is a cherished local gem in San Miguel de Allende, known for its welcoming atmosphere, generous portions, and vibrant spirit. Open from breakfast through dinner, it offers authentic, home-style Mexican cooking in a relaxed, no-fuss setting that keeps locals and travelers coming back. Live music fills the space daily from 2 pm to 8 pm, adding an infectious energy to your dining experience. The menu is packed with traditional favorites, but the real star is the molcajete, a sizzling volcanic stone bowl brimming with a mix of meats or shrimp, bubbling in a bold green chili sauce and served with beans, guacamole, and fresh tortillas. It’s hearty, spicy, and utterly satisfying.
