Curator’s statement
In the third year of my undergraduate degree, I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Copenhagen, an experience that truly sparked my love for the Scandinavian lifestyle, fashion, and architecture. The city has such a refreshing energy, with beautiful parks, clean harbors perfect for a swim, and a strong cycling culture that makes it easy to explore like a local. Copenhagen offers a wonderful introduction to Scandinavia and its understated charm. It’s an ideal destination for a long weekend, though if you’re lucky enough to stay longer, you’ll find there’s plenty to discover at a relaxed and enjoyable pace.

Things to do in Copenhagen

View out of the sauna at La Banchina
La Banchina
If you’re looking for a refreshing activity, this is a must-visit (and not just for the food). You can book their sauna and then take a dip in the harbor directly below. I went in the winter and only managed to get in up to my hips, but I felt incredible afterwards! It’s such a uniquely Scandinavian experience.
The Round Tower
It may seem like a tourist stop at first glance, but don’t let that deter you. On a clear day, the view from the top is absolutely worth it. You can see across the city to the water and even spot the ski slope built on top of the power plant, CopenHill, a pretty impressive sight.
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
If you have extra time in the city, take the train north along the coast to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. The setting alone makes it worth the visit. The architecture blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, and the galleries feel thoughtfully connected to nature, making the entire museum feel like a work of art itself.
Places to eat & drink in Copenhagen

Atelier September
Bæst is my favorite spot in Copenhagen. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the pizza is truly exceptional. If you go, make sure to stop by the wine bar upstairs—while the wine leans on the pricier side, it’s thoughtfully curated and well worth it.
Atelier September is my go-to for breakfast. You have to order the morning plate—it comes with incredible bread and jam, fresh cheese, and a perfectly cooked hard-boiled egg. It’s simple, beautifully done, and the perfect way to start your day.
Gasoline Grill is a Danish staple when you’re looking for something quick and satisfying. With locations across the city, it’s both convenient and consistently delicious. It absolutely lives up to the hype.
Sankt Peders Bageri is famous for its cinnamon rolls and for good reason. I still think about them. If you’re searching for a bakery to add to your list, this one should be at the top. (There’s even a discount on Wednesdays if your timing works out!)
Need to know
You might hesitate to visit in the winter, as the temperatures can be quite cold, but Copenhagen is incredibly beautiful under a blanket of snow. The cozy atmosphere feels even more magical, and somehow the pastries taste even better in the chilly air.
Don’t let the season determine your trip as there’s plenty to see and do year-round. With its inviting cafés, thoughtful design, and hygge-filled spaces, Copenhagen embraces winter just as well as the warmer months.
