FAQ

For Travelers

Fora Advisors (a.k.a. travel advisors / agents) work with clients to understand their vacation needs and handle all the travel arrangements, from booking a hotel for a long weekend to planning a honeymoon.

They take the time to learn your preferences and narrow down your destination and accommodation options to find the best fit for you. We’ve taken the time to curate a warm, vibrant and diverse community of travel advisors who are just as travel-obsessed as we are. Our advisors’ job is to make sure your next trip is precisely tailored to your taste, vacation style and budget.

You name it, we book it: resort vacations, , city breaks, vacation home rentals, once-in-a-lifetime adventures, weekend escapes… We do it all.

Working with a travel agent helps you level up your vacation experience. A travel agent handles all the logistics — on-the-ground transfers, hotel and tour bookings, itinerary planning — so you can get the most out of your trip, without any of the stress.

When booking your trip through a Fora Advisor, you’ll also benefit from the partnerships we have set up with more than 5,000 hotels and travel providers around the world, including Virtuoso, Four Seasons, Rosewood, Belmond and beyond. Read more about our partners. Say hello to room upgrades, complimentary breakfasts, resort credits and top-tier treatment.

In other words, working with a travel agent unlocks a secret travel world you need to be a part of. But don’t just take our word for it… we have tons of 5-star reviews from happy clients.

Fora Advisors don’t charge anything for most hotel bookings. Advisors receive commissions from properties and travel providers, at no additional cost to you. For more complicated multi-stop itineraries, Fora Advisors may choose to charge a planning fee. This will always be transparently presented.

Planning travel — if you have a lot of time — can be fun. It’s what we do! ‍

You’ll still benefit from using a Fora Advisor. Tell us the hotels you’re interested in and we’ll book them for you so you get perks such as free breakfast, a room upgrade, early check-in or late check-out, at no extra cost to you. ‍

Plus, we’ll let you know if we have any intel on the property that may not be obvious online (like the fact that the room you requested looks onto a wall). It’s like having a best friend who works in travel, and who can help you plan your dream trip.

Of course! The more the merrier. Whether you’re organizing a family reunion, , bachelorette party or company-wide retreat, we’re happy to help. Just get in touch with your Fora Advisor to begin the process.

Tell us everything. Let us know if you love golf, must have access to a kids’ club or have a soft spot for off-the-beaten-path travel. Serious allergies or dietary restrictions are also very helpful information to share. That way, we’ll only show you options that fit your wants and needs. We also love to hear about your favorite hotels and trips you’ve enjoyed in the past, because that clues us in to your travel style.

For Advisors

The terms travel agent and travel advisor are used interchangeably. The original term was ‘travel agent,’ but the industry has gone through a bit of a rebrand to showcase the breadth of work that a travel advisor does. We use both!

Personally, we like to think of Fora Advisors as next-generation travel agents. Sure, we earn money by selling and booking trips, but it’s so much more than a transaction. Fora Advisors are consultants and advocates for their clients. We work with clients to understand their vacation needs and handle all the travel arrangements, from booking a staycation to planning a honeymoon.

A Fora Advisor has access to all of Fora’s training resources, including seamless technology (which makes booking a breeze) and access to specialists with destination expertise. Even better, Fora Advisors don’t have to worry about tracking commission payments or invoicing travel partners. We handle all of that, so our advisors can focus on what they love: building their business in travel.

Hotels and other travel providers pay advisors a commission on anything they book, at no additional cost to the traveler. Travel advisors also sometimes charge a planning fee for customized itineraries or more complicated trips. You can learn more in our guide on how travel advisors get paid.

Anyone with a passion for travel, deep knowledge of specific destinations and a problem-solving attitude. If you love planning trips, you can get paid to do that by joining Fora. Read our guide on how to become a travel agent, and then today.

Of course! As professional travel advisors ourselves, we’re excited to welcome experienced travel agents to our community. We’re advisor-centric to our core, so there’s something here for everyone, no matter where you are on your advisor journey.

We’ll get you onboarded and set up with our travel agent certification training curriculum, where you’ll learn everything from the ins and outs of hotel and cruise bookings to partner relations to destination-specific advice and beyond.

Upon joining, you’ll also join our community app Forum, where you can begin to interact with other advisors and ask any questions you might have.

We’ll work to get you set up with everything you need to succeed from your first booking to your 1,000th (and beyond).

You’ll be joining a vibrant, diverse and inclusive team of travel enthusiasts who hail from all over the globe. The common factor: we’re all dedicated to sharing our passion for the travel industry, to create a smooth experience for our clients and to send them off on amazing trips they’ll never forget. Community is a big deal at Fora, and something we’re especially proud of.

It’s up to you! We have both part-time and full-time Fora Advisors in our community. Our approach is flexible: you might decide to transition from your current job into a full-blown travel career over time. Maybe you already work in the travel industry and are looking to expand. Whatever you prefer, Fora is here to support you.

At Fora, never. You're empowered to book in accordance with your schedule, and on your own terms.

We charge advisors a monthly ($49) or annual ($299) subscription fee, which includes the cost of Fora’s technology platforms, certified training, admin support and our community app. We’ll set you up with everything you need to succeed, from your first booking to your 1,000th and beyond.

About Fora

Learn more About Us.

We are a team of entrepreneurs, technologists, travel industry veterans, and people passionate about travel, backed by an amazing group of investors. Our team is here.

Glad you asked! We are indeed growing our corporate team. See our open roles here.

Questions you’re afraid to ask? We got you.

Our revenue is derived primarily from commissions earned by booking hotels and other travel experiences. We take a fraction of the commission earned from each hotel booking made by our advisors. The majority of the commission goes to the advisor. We also have a smaller portion of revenue that comes from subscription fees from our advisors.

We charge advisors a monthly or annual subscription fee, which includes the cost of Fora’s technology platforms, training, admin and our community app. This fee is a fraction of our own technology costs and what other agencies charge as signup fees (up to $5,000 for training alone).

Nope! We never require advisors to recruit other advisors, and our advisors’ earnings come from booking travel. Advisors don’t profit off of anyone else’s bookings. Fora Advisors are independent contractors and earn commissions on their own, without any contingencies, limits or minimums. And, advisors can cancel their Fora subscription and stop booking at any time. No questions asked.

At Fora, never. You're empowered to book in accordance with your schedule, and on your own terms.
