Mystical Arrival? Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal Takes the Crown!
Curator’s statement

The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal wins for the most dramatic and mystical arrival. The moment you arrive at this hidden gem in Los Cabos, you’re already on the brink of a memorable stay. As you approach the resort, you’ll encounter a tall metal gate where the staff engages in a friendly conversation with the guard. After the gate opens, you’ll be greeted by a dark tunnel bathed in flickering light. As you drive through the dark tunnel and your eyes acclimate, you realize it’s lined with gas torches along both sides and gas chandeliers down the middle. At the end of the tunnel, you’ll emerge onto a circular drive, where the uniformed staff awaits your arrival with open arms, overlooking the breathtaking Pacific Ocean. The entire stay ahead of you beckons, and you realize it’s time to slow down, savor the beauty, and immerse yourself in the moment. This is going to be a stay of a life-time.

You’ll find yourself standing at the front desk, checked in, and your luggage has safely been taken care of. Escorted to your villa, you’ll be greeted by your domo, who’ll welcome you with a refreshing margarita, chips, salsa, and guacamole.

After exploring our three-bedroom villa, we select our ensuite room, and as you settle into your villa, you’ll realize that your suitcases have been unpacked, and you’re transported to a stay of a lifetime.

Location

This truly unique property continues to surprise you once you are settled in. It’s built into the cliffs at the edge of Cabo San Lucas, and every detail at the Waldorf Astoria feels intentional. The resort blends into the mountain cliffs and is Mexican elegance at its finest. The ocean views are breathtaking, and there’s something magical about listening to the crashing waves from your private terrace.

Amenities & activities

My other favorite feature of this resort is El Farallon, set into the cliffs with panoramic views of the Pacific. It offers a candle-lit romantic setting with a focus on fresh seafood. As you walk in, you can select a fresh fish caught that day. The service is attentive.

The spa is another standout. I’m in my private room overlooking a pool of water with the door open so I could hear the waterfall as I’m receiving my massage. It was so comforting. I released my everyday worries and became so relaxed. After my massage, I decided to lounge by the spa pool, where I was given a popsicle while I enjoyed the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean.

We strategically booked our stay the week before Thanksgiving and practically had the resort to ourselves. The closer we were to Thanksgiving, the more families began to arrive. But having the place to ourselves made life easy for reservations at the five restaurants and spa.

We also went whale-watching on the resort’s yacht over two days. The first day we saw whales; the second day, we didn’t. It was a bit early for whale-watching. I recommend January to March for peak whale-watching.

I would highly recommend this resort for couples looking for a romantic getaway, honeymooners, or anyone celebrating a special occasion. In fact, one evening we noticed the resort had set up a romantic dinner for two on the beach. It’s also well-suited for solo travelers seeking peace and privacy, and families who want elevated, villa-style accommodations with space and service.

The resort doesn’t have a swimmable beach, but the stunning infinity pools more than make up for it. The resort offers so many incredible venues and experiences that you may never feel the need to leave. But if you’re a thrill-seeker, they have exciting adventures for you too.

Let me curate a stay tailored to you and the special occasion you’re celebrating.

Need to know

  • Arrival feels like a moment. Driving through the tunnel into the resort instantly transports you—your vacation starts the moment you emerge on the other side.

  • Every room has a plunge pool. Whether you’re traveling solo or as a couple, having your own private pool overlooking the ocean is a game-changer.

  • Food is exceptional: From breakfast on your terrace to the elevated cliffside dinners, dining is both an experience and a pleasure.

  • Not for beach swimming: While the ocean is mesmerizing, it’s not swimmable. But with multiple pools and the dramatic setting, it’s rarely missed. The beach is perfect for that special dinner for two.

  • Perfect for special occasions: The level of service, privacy, and beauty makes this property ideal for milestone celebrations or simply recharging in luxury.
