Curator’s statement

CDMX brings together everything I look for when I travel: vibrant culture, incredible food, walkable neighborhoods, and thoughtful design. I’ve visited with family, friends, and as a couple, and every trip has felt completely different yet equally special. From late-night street tacos to fine dining, Saturday markets to high-end boutiques, and hidden galleries in Roma to the grand museums of Polanco, this city never fails to delight.

Things to do in Mexico City

Window-shopping in Roma Norte

  • Saturday Bazar at San Angel: Browse local art, crafts, and jewelry in a colorful square surrounded by cobblestone streets and historic homes.

  • Shopping in Roma & Condesa: My favorite neighborhoods to get lost in. Think curated boutiques, secondhand gems, and sustainable skincare, all showcasing Mexico’s creative spirit.

  • Xochimilco experience: A trajinera ride through the Xochimilco canals is always fun as a group, though I’d encourage visiting responsibly. For a deeper cultural connection, try one of Arca Tierra’s rural experiences instead.

  • Casa Luis Barragán: Architecture lovers shouldn’t miss Casa Barragán (book ahead!). Combine it with visits to contemporary galleries like Kurimanzutto to experience Mexico’s thriving art scene

  • Chapultepec: You can easily spend half a day exploring Chapultepec Castle, the sprawling park gardens, and the National Museum of Anthropology.

  • Cafebrería el Péndulo in Polanco: A dreamy bookstore-café where you can spend a slow afternoon browsing titles and sipping coffee. I love heading to nearby El Moro for their famous churros right after.

  • Lucha libre: Catching a lucha libre match is a quintessential CDMX experience: high energy, fun, and theatrical.

Places to eat & drink in Mexico City

Pujol's signature mole. So good.

  • Ojo de Agua: My go-to for healthy, fresh bites when I want a break from heavy meals. Think smoothies, açai bowls, and avo toasts.

  • Entremar: A great lunch spot by the Pujol team, in a relaxed yet stylish setting. The tuna tostadas are a must.

  • Paramo: Cool, understated, and the perfect spot to ease into a night out. Great food, great music, and a relaxed vibe.

  • La Única: A vibrant restaurant serving elevated Mexican classics in an atmosphere that’s perfect for celebrations.

  • Xaman bar: A speakeasy-style bar with creative cocktails and moody jungle vibes.

  • Hugo: An intimate wine bar with a thoughtful list and cozy feel.

  • Sala de Despecho: If you’re with friends, this is the place to go sing your heart out.

  • Pujol: A fine-dining experience that lives up to the hype.

  • Los Danzantes: If you’re visiting Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul, this is the perfect spot for lunch nearby. Sit by the plaza, try the hoja santa dish, and explore their excellent mezcal list.

Need to know

  • Altitude matters: CDMX is high up, so take it easy your first day.

  • Book ahead: Reservations are highly recommended for restaurants, museums, and galleries.
