Things to do in New York City

Woodstock, New York

  • Beacon, NY: Ride the train north, walk the artsy streets, and lose yourself in massive contemporary art installations at Dia:Beacon. The Hudson views along the route set the tone even before you arrive.

  • Storm King Art Center (New Windsor, NY): This 500-acre outdoor sculpture park is where nature and art converse. You’ll stroll past monumental works set among hills, fields, and groves, which is perfect for contemplative breaks between match days.

  • Hudson Highlands/Bull Hill: For a bit of elevation and a panoramic payoff, these hikes deliver. The views of the Hudson River and Highlands will remind you why travel is so beautiful.

  • The Hamptons & Montauk (Long Island East End): If you don’t mind a longer day, the beaches, dunes, lighthouses, and coastal ambiance are a refreshing contrast to urban intensity.

  • New Paltz/Mohonk Preserve: For a mix of forest, cliffs, and scenic views, Mohonk’s trails and carriage roads feel like stepping into a more forgiving wilderness. It’s not too far, but far enough.

  • Woodstock, NY: This spot is known to be quirky, artsy, and leafy: a great mix of small-town charm, craft shops, art galleries, and peaceful drives.

Places to eat & drink in New York City

Shepherd's Pie

Beacon, NY

  • Beacon Quality Eats: Beacon’s creative spirit shows up here with its seasonal ingredients, art on the walls, and a small-town vibe that still feels upscale. Order the fried chicken and a Hudson Valley craft IPA from nearby at the Hudson Valley Brewery.

  • Storm King Art Center (New Windsor, NY)—Brothers Barbecue: After exploring the sculpture fields, stop by this family-friendly eatery that serves smoked meats. Order the brisket with cornbread while listening to live music.

Hudson Highlands/Bull Hill

  • Riverview Restaurant (Cold Spring): Floor-to-ceiling Hudson River views and hearty plates are a local favorite for post-hike dinners. Try the calamari and a glass of Pinot Noir, or grab a Modelo Especial if you want something lighter after hiking.

The Hamptons/Montauk

  • The Crow’s Nest: Beach-boho meets fine dining with twinkling lights, bonfires, and some of the best coastal fare on Long Island. Discover the Lobster Pasta with coconut rice and a cocktail of your choice while you watch the sunset over Lake Montauk.

New Paltz/Mohonk Preserve

  • Garvan’s Gastropub: This is a unique Irish restaurant where you feel like you’re in an 18th-century environment. Try out the short ribs or shepherd’s pie along with a Guinness Dark Beer.

Woodstock, NY

  • The Red Onion: Upscale yet unpretentious, this converted farmhouse is a Woodstock staple containing candle lights, wood beams, and creative seasonal plates. Check out the duck confit with roasted root vegetables and a local red from Millbrook Vineyards before heading back to New York City.

Need to know

During the World Cup, New York and New Jersey will host a variety of fan experiences that stretch beyond the stadium. The FIFA Fan Festival at Liberty State Park will feature massive match screenings, live entertainment, local food vendors, cultural showcases, and interactive soccer zones. All that with stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty. Across the city, neighborhoods and rooftop bars will come alive with team-themed parties, music, and global energy that captures the heart of the world’s game.
