Things to do in Santa Barbara, CA

Visit the Santa Barbara Zoo

Gorgeous grounds and so much fun! The SB Zoo is a must-visit for families with kids. Make sure to feed the giraffes and take a ride on the zoo train!

Romp Around Kids World

A true playground paradise for kiddos. This castle styled playground for ages 2-12 is one of the most loved by local families!

Visit the Museum of Natural History

Between Late May and Early September, the SB Museum of Natural History’s Butterflies Alive! Exhibit opens and it is such a delight. Enter an enclosed outdoor garden pavilion featuring a variety of beautiful butterfly species that flutter amongst the guests!

Picnic in the Park

Grab some picnic provisions and head to one of the many beautifully scenic parks of Santa Barbara. My personal favorites are Mission Park/Rose Garden, Franceschi Park, Shoreline Park and Alice Keck Park.

Chase Palm Park

This shipwreck themed playground is just across the street from East Beach. It’s a perfect spot for the kids to play if you’ve been walking near the wharf or are spending a day at the beach!

The Moxi

Curious minds will love this science museum just steps from the beach! Loaded with interactive experiences and exhibits for a perfect combo of fun and learning.

Places to eat & drink in Santa Barbara, CA

Crushcakes Cafe - Local favorite cupcake spot with amazing breakfast and lunch options! My go-to order is the Lucky Goat Burrito, an Angeleno coffee and a Strawberry Blush cupcake. Chef’s Kiss!

Santa Barbara Public Market - Perfect for lunch or dinner-times when everyone wants something different. The SB Public Market houses many local food offerings representing a variety of cuisines. Definitely don’t miss out on the Cota Street Wings from Shalhoob’s.

Bettina - Something a little fancier for you parents, but sure to please the whole family is Bettina. Definitely book ahead for dinner reservations, this place is poppin’!

McConnell’s Ice Cream - The go-to ice cream spot for locals and tourists alike. Stop by while strolling down State Street. They have 2 locations on it!

Reunion Kitchen - Literally steps from the sands of East Beach, Reunion Kitchen is the perfect spot for a sunset dinner. The kids can play in the sand while you enjoy a nice cocktail!
