Day 1: Table Mountain

View from Table Mountain overlooking Lions Head and Cape Town

Start your Cape Town adventure off by seeing the city from the sky. Take the Table Mountain Gondola up the mountain on a clear, sunny day for views of the Mother City. The gondola spins 180 degrees on the ride up, so everyone is treated to incredible views along the way.

Explore different vistas by walking the well-maintained paths along the top of the mountain. Be sure to enjoy the view with an Aperol Spritz on tap from the tuck shop. For the more adventurous, you can choose to climb or hike up Table Mountain. Once down the mountain, a short drive away is The Lawns, a casual outdoor lunch spot with views of the Twelve Apostles. Enjoy their wood-fired pizza and the classic South African flavor of bacon and avocado.

Day 2: Chapmans Peak

Penguins at Boulders Beach

Spend your next day driving the iconic and picturesque route of Chapmans Peak. Rent vintage cars for this drive and stop along the way to take pictures of the view. Keep driving and head to the Cape of Good Hope, the most southern point of Africa.

On the way back, don’t forget to stop at Boulders Beach, where you can walk along the beach and swim (if you are brave enough) with the penguins that call this beach home. Finally, no trip along Chapmans Peak is complete without dinner and sundowners (sunset cocktails) at Chefs Warehouse Tintswallo. Enjoy a magnificent sunset and delicious seafood while remarking on the stunning road trip.

Day 3: Victoria and Albert Waterfront

The V&A Waterfront

Spend your next day along the Victoria and Albert Waterfront. Start the day by grabbing a rooibos red latte and a koeksister pastry at the Oranjezicht market. The market features local artisans work as well as yummy treats—perfect for souvenirs and gifts to bring home.

Next, take a tour to Robben Island, where Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years. The tour is led by former inmates of Robben Island and is deeply impactful in understand Apartheid in South Africa. Finally, finish your day by enjoying modern South African tasting menu at Pier or Waterside Restaurants.

Day 4: Franshoek & Stellenbosch

Franshoek Wine Tram

Only a 1 hour drive from Cape Town, the winelands of Franshoek and Stellenbosch can not be missed. In Franshoek, it is all aboard the Wine Tram, which offers a hop-on hop-off style adventure to multiple wineries in the area along different lines.

The Purple line will take you to the historic Boschendal where you can enjoy MCC (Method Cape Classic—South Africa’s version of Champagne) paired with fresh oysters.

Onwards to Babylonstoren, where farm-to-table takes new meaning. Spend time walking through their meticulous gardens, sipping on a rose. Enjoy lunch at Babel or Petite Colombe. This experience can be either a day trip from Cape Town, or plan to spend time in the winelands and stay at La Residence or Babylonstoren
