My husband and I were gone for five weeks to celebrate our 32nd anniversary— first in Japan and then two weeks in Bora Bora, the Tuomotus and the Marquesas. We loved Nuka Hiva and wish we had spent four nights here and only two in Hiva Oa. There was more to do in Nuka Hiva and Taiohe town is much bigger and more interesting than Atuona town as it is spread out all along the curve of the bay. It is a great walking town.

  • The bay is spectacular. It is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The island is lush, green and mountainous.

  • The hotel is gorgeous with its scattered bungalows on a high hill overlooking the bay.

  • The infinity pool is lovely. We got in twice in the evening. It was beautiful with the lights shimmering from under the water.

  • Service is good. All of the staff are helpful and friendly.

  • The beds are very comfortable. Bring earplugs as roosters are heard off and on but this is the case in every hotel we stayed in in French Polynesia.

  • CNN in English is on the TV.

We took the day trip to see the island. Highly recommended with Richard! Ask him to throw some tuna pieces in the little creek at Yvonne's where you eat lunch. The huge eels are fun to watch!

On one day, the cruise ship was in and we were able to see traditional native dancing and shop at all of the handicraft shops that are set up for the passengers.

We highly recommend this hotel, it is a very peaceful and relaxing escape!
