Curator’s statement
I recently visited SO/ Paris, a bold, design-forward hotel on the Right Bank that feels like a true expression of modern Paris rather than a reinterpretation of the past. Set along the Seine in the 4th Arrondissement, the hotel brings together fashion, architecture, and art in a way that feels distinctly contemporary. The architecture and interiors were designed by Denis Montel of RDAI, known for his long collaboration with Hermès, and the influence of that design world is visible in the clean lines, refined materials, and strong visual identity throughout the property. Fashion designer Guillaume Henry contributed to the project by designing the staff uniforms, which adds another subtle couture element without overpowering the overall aesthetic. The result is sleek but playful, with sculptural furniture, bold color accents, and a confident, modern Parisian feel that resonates with design-conscious travelers.

Where to stay
The location is one of the hotel’s best assets. Positioned near Bastille and the Marais, SO/ Paris offers a slightly more local, less tourist-heavy base while still being incredibly well connected. The nearest metro provides easy access across the city, with the Eiffel Tower reachable in about 20 minutes. You’re also within walking distance of the Seine, Île Saint-Louis, and some of Paris’s best independent boutiques, galleries, and nightlife. It’s a great fit for clients who want to explore beyond the traditional Left Bank luxury offerings while still staying central.

Rooms & suites
Rooms at SO/ Paris are relatively consistent in layout, which makes category selection more about the view than the floor plan. The design is clean and modern, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing either the Seine or the Paris skyline. Many rooms feature balconies with truly exceptional views, stretching across the Seine to landmarks like Notre-Dame and even the Eiffel Tower in the distance. The Studio Panorama category is a standout and worth booking when available, offering sweeping vistas that really anchor the Paris experience. Bathrooms feature products by Codage, which you can also find in the spa area. Another detail that really stood out was the minibar, which goes beyond the standard offering with a curated selection of fancy snacks that feel thoughtful and indulgent rather than generic.

Culinary & cocktails
The hotel’s main social hub is Bonnie, which includes the restaurant, bar, and club on the top floors. The space was designed by Jordane Arrivetz of the Notoire agency, who also worked on the iconic Costes Hotel, and the influence shows in the mix of retro glamour, warm lighting, and a slightly decadent atmosphere. The restaurant and bar offer panoramic views over the Seine, Notre-Dame, and the Eiffel Tower, making it one of the most impressive rooftop settings in Paris. During the day, the space feels bright and relaxed, but in the evening it becomes much more lively. There is also a dedicated club area with DJs, which is rare for a Paris hotel and makes Bonnie a destination for locals as well as guests. This gives the property a real nightlife component that sets it apart from more traditional luxury hotels.

Spa & wellness
The wellness offering is anchored by Maison CODAGE Spa, which includes treatment rooms, a sauna, and a full menu of tailored therapies. The spa continues the brand’s focus on personalization, with treatments built around individual skin diagnostics and product customization. One of the more unique touches is the ability for guests to create a customized cream tailored to their skin needs, which can then be reordered later using a personalized code at any Codage boutique. The spa is more intimate, but very well executed and aligned with the hotel’s overall design-forward identity.
Need to know
SO/ Paris is not a traditional luxury hotel, and that’s exactly the point. The design is contemporary and the vibe is fun and refreshing. Room sizes are efficient rather than expansive, so view categories become especially important when booking. The rooftop is a major draw and can get busy, particularly in the evenings. Overall, it skews toward a style-conscious traveler or anyone looking for a different take on Paris luxury.
