Seville is an architectural melting pot where Moorish, Gothic, and Renaissance styles coexist with a youthful, modern exuberance. Standing before the colossal Seville Cathedral—the largest Gothic cathedral in the world—you feel the sheer weight of history, yet just a few steps away, the futuristic ‘Setas’ wooden structure reminds you that this city is constantly evolving. It is a place of immense scale, from the sprawling Plaza de España to the lush Maria Luisa Park, yet it never loses its sense of southern Spanish grace.

Get lost in the street the sights are incredible!

Basílica de la Macarena
To understand Seville, you have to get lost in its neighbourhoods. Wandering through the narrow, winding alleys of Barrio Santa Cruz feels like stepping into a postcard. Across the river, the district of Triana offers a completely different vibe—gritty, artistic, and deeply rooted in ceramic and flamenco traditions. It’s in these tucked-away corners, far from the main tourist paths, where you find the city’s true heartbeat.
Seville claims to be the birthplace of tapas (I don’t know if that is true, but the tapas are excellent!), and here, eating is a social ritual that shouldn’t be rushed. Whether you are standing at a sawdust-covered floor in a traditional bodega or enjoying modern fusion in a trendy courtyard, the quality of the ingredients is world-class. From the local favourite Solomillo al Whiskey (pork in garlic-whiskey sauce) to the freshest fried fish, every meal is an opportunity to pair incredible flavours with the city’s signature hospitality.

Look for the place that is full of locals!

Bar Casa Morales
What sets Seville apart is the passion of its people. Whether it’s the intensity of a live flamenco show or the vibrant energy of its local festivals, there is an “all-in” spirit to life here. It is a city that celebrates its traditions with a modern twist, making it just as appealing to a first-time visitor as it is to someone returning for the tenth time. Seville doesn’t just welcome you; it embraces you.

La Giralda

Real Alcázar: A breathtaking royal palace that is still in use by the Spanish Royal Family today. Fun fact: It served as a filming location for the Kingdom of Dorne in Game of Thrones.
Seville Cathedral and La Giralda: Climb the ramps of the Giralda bell tower for the best views of the city rooftops. Fun fact: It supplanted the Hagia Sophia as the largest church in the world upon its completion in the 16th century.
Plaza de España: Rent a small boat to row along the canal of this magnificent plaza, built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exhibition.
Las Setas (The Mushrooms): Walk along the top of the world’s largest wooden structure for a panoramic sunset view.
Restaurante Eslava: A local legend in the San Lorenzo district; you must try the slow-cooked egg on boletus cake.
Zurbarán: A true hidden gem in Seville. This restaurant is a must-visit for travellers looking to escape the main tourist track and enjoy high-quality, authentic cuisine in a setting that feels like a local secret.
Casa Morales: One of the city’s oldest and most atmospheric bars, famous for its giant wine vats and excellent croquettes.
Triana Market: Visit this bustling market built on the remains of an old castle to sample local cheeses and cured hams.
The “NO8DO” Code: Keep an eye out for this symbol on everything from manhole covers to flags. Fun Fact: It’s the city’s secret motto, a pun meaning “It [Seville] has not abandoned me,” given by King Alfonso X for the city’s loyalty.
Churros ritual: For the most authentic breakfast, head to Bar El Comercio for thick chocolate and fresh churros.
Booking ahead: Timed entry for the Alcázar and Cathedral is essential; these often sell out weeks in advance.
