Jerez de la Frontera was a total surprise that I am so glad was on our radar; it is a warm, welcoming town that feels perfectly tucked away from the main tourist trail. Even if you think you aren’t a sherry drinker, this city will convert you—the sherry here is nothing like what you might imagine, especially when enjoyed straight from the barrel. Between the authentic flamenco and the buzz of being a candidate for the 2031 European Capital of Culture, Jerez is a hidden gem that absolutely belongs on every Andalusian itinerary.

There is truly nothing else like Ronda in the world; it is one of those rare places that is even more breathtaking in real life than in the pictures. Even on my second visit, I found myself captivated by the sheer drama of the Tajo Gorge and the layers of history waiting around every corner. Whether you are drawn by its bullfighting history or the world-class local wines, Ronda is a destination that stays with you long after you’ve left the edge of the cliffs.

Cádiz was a magnificent surprise that challenged every expectation I had about Europe’s oldest inhabited port. While many travelers overlook this Atlantic gem in favor of more famous capitals, I found a city brimming with authentic Andalusian charm.

Toledo is one of those rare places you truly have to see to believe.
