Curator’s statement
We were in one of the overwater ocean rooms at the end of W Maldives with mostly expansive unobstructed views. We were entertained by planes landing landing in the distance a couple times a day. We were in room 223 with panoramic unobstructed views. It made for great photo ops!

There were music speakers on the overwater villa jetty and in the restaurant area, but it was low key and chill and at a reasonable volume. We enjoyed it!
Sip bar is the place to be for the stunning sunsets! There is a live DJ who does a great job. Amazing romantic ambiance with lighting and the location out over the water.
Fish was our favorite restaurant we loved the grilled scallops, tuna belly and creative side dishes as well as “ iron chef type” deserts. Just exquisite and gourmet.
Norberto, the executive chef, befriended us and it was generous to offer us tastes of scallop sausage, complimentary oysters (loved!) and a double portion of tuna belly for my husband in the fish restaurant. He is a credit to the W family! The tuna belly was cooked just right and melts in your mouth good! Norberto is a credit to the W family and was kind and personable. The tuna belly was cooked just right and melted in our mouths! Fire and fish had wonderful settings and were an “experience” as well as delicious. We ordered the avocado ceviche and tuna salad more than once. So delicious!
A bottle of wine, flower art on the bed and chocolate anniversary cake was a sweet gesture.
I really loved the breakfasts. They were not as expansive as other resort buffets, but I enjoyed the fresh middle eastern small “tapas” servings of hummus , labneh, tabouli, crisp romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, yogurt cups with açaí, goji berries and chia seeds. There is a variety of freshly made juices as well as the usual hot dishes, homemade breads and jams. Loved the coconut jam. A huge amount of freshly-cut tropical fruit as well as a station with spirulina, hemp seed, flax seed, nuts and seeds was appreciated! Espresso drinks were made perfectly. The sorbets, especially the coconut, was excellent.
Snorkeling was fantastic! Huge amounts of schools of tropical fish every shape size and colors. We circled the island everyday swimming for exercise as well as the underwater views. Little surprises everywhere everyday! Lots of Nemo fish hiding in the anemones. We checked out the huge lobsters hiding in the large rock by the drop off out from 222. Loved the overhangs and caves in that general area.
Lots of white snd black tip sharks, large turtles, not many rays. We did see a very large purple slinky type thing we found our was a diamond back squid egg case floating around.
The bed is very comfortable we slept well.
Huge decks with a lovely covered circular seating area and open to the sky for stargazing opportunity at night. The clear evening sky at night with the warm tropical breeze was so relaxing! Lovely!
They moved us to a beach room the last day and we loved the second story swing while gazing at the turquoise water through palms swaying and water lapping at the shoreline very pleasant and and peaceful.
Kayaking/ paddle boards were good fun! My husband tried a 30-minute jet ski and had a good time.
Staff is very very friendly and helpful. No complaints at all. They were all willing to do anything anytime to make our stay as memorable as possible! 5-star service with every request made.
The snorkeling was the highlight and what stood out for me and made it magical.
Another resort checked off the bucket list!
