Luxury Solo Escapes: Unveiling the Charms of InterContinental Cascais-Estoril in Portugal
Curator’s statement

In January 2024, I booked an indulgent solo escape, choosing the InterContinental Cascais-Estoril nestled along Portugal's scenic coastline north of Lisbon. This premier hotel provided flawless service and sweeping panoramas of the rolling waves and distant ships. Representing pure excellence, the InterContinental Cascais-Estoril creates an ambiance of sophistication and unparalleled comfort. I wholeheartedly recommend this haven to travelers seeking a refined and luxurious retreat by the sea in Portugal. My sole regret? The inability to prolong my stay further in this exquisite sanctuary! Cascais-Estoril

Nestled along Portugal's captivating coastline, the InterContinental Cascais-Estoril proved to be an extraordinary solo retreat. From the moment I arrived, the staff's warm welcome and efficient assistance set the tone for an impeccable stay.

Opting for valet parking at a reasonable rate of 15 euros per day, my journey continued seamlessly at the front desk. Confirming my stay under the partnership program rate, the clerk reiterated the included benefits. This included an upgrade to an ocean-view room, a sanctuary of comfort, which featured a spacious balcony with panoramic views and a cozy sofa lounge. I also received a $100USD credit as part of the perks, which I was happy to use for a relaxing aromatherapy massage during a rainy day.

This hotel is perfectly located for taking a stroll to the coastal resort town of Cascais. There is an oceanfront walking path next to the hotel, which allowed for a beautiful 20 minute walk to town.

The room's design prioritized relaxation, boasting a perfectly soft bed with fluffy pillows, blackout curtains, and efficient air conditioning. Despite being directly below the dining area, the room remained tranquil. Though there were train tracks on the other side of the hotel pool, the well-insulated space ensured minimal disturbance.

The bathroom mirrored the room's spaciousness and thoughtful design, offering a large vanity with dual sinks, glass-enclosed sections for the shower and toilet, and even a soaking tub with a privacy screen. The commitment to cleanliness resonated in every detail, from the pristine lobby to the immaculate guest rooms.

Daily housekeeping services maintained a tidy space, complemented by a delightful evening turn-down service featuring chocolates. The hotel staff's warm welcome extended to a delicious treat – small confections and a fruit plate, setting a delightful tone for my stay.

Food view

Opting for room service on the first evening, the Presunto Iberian smoked ham and Neopolitana Pasta were exquisite choices, and the Belgian Chocolate Sablé with Pistachio Ice Cream was a heavenly finish.

The culinary excellence continued through breakfast, offering a vast buffet spread and a tempting a la carte menu. I ordered a delicious latte and tried my best to sample the vast array of hot and cold breakfast items.

A rainy second night prompted a venture to the restaurant, where a perfectly cooked sea bass stole the spotlight, paired with a barley stew that was tasty but became a bit one-note after eating most of it.

In conclusion, the InterContinental Cascais-Estoril exceeded solo luxury expectations, delivering an unforgettable experience of ocean-view elegance while traveling in Portugal.
