Curator’s statement

After one of the busiest, most chaotic years of our lives, my husband and I finally hit pause. We hadn’t made time for ourselves in months—not even a weekend. We were fried, stretched thin, and craving something softer. No crowds. No notifications. Just quiet, open air and space to reconnect. And we found all of it—and more—at Dunya Camp, a luxury glamping retreat tucked into the tranquil mountains of Northwest Georgia.

We didn’t know how much we needed a reset until we stepped into stillness.

After a nonstop year filled with deadlines, routines, and the constant hum of daily responsibilities, my husband and I finally made time to get away—just the two of us. We weren’t looking for a big trip or a packed itinerary. We were looking for space to breathe. That’s exactly what we found at Dunya Camp, a luxury glamping retreat nestled in the mountains of Northwest Georgia.

What followed was a weekend that felt nothing short of transformational—one of quiet joy, deep rest, and moments that reminded us of what matters most. If you’re longing for a meaningful escape that blends comfort, nature, and connection, here are five reasons Dunya Camp might just be your perfect retreat.

It’s luxury that lets you exhale

Each safari-style tent at Dunya is a sanctuary. We stayed in a Sunset Grand Tent and were blown away by the comfort: a plush four-poster bed, en suite bathroom with a soaking tub, air-conditioning, and even a private sauna.

It’s glamping done right—no roughing it, just relaxing in style.

But what made it truly special was the seamless blend of comfort and nature. You wake up to birdsong and sunlight filtering through the trees. You fall asleep to the sound of the wind and the hush of the forest.

We’d sit on the deck each morning, sipping coffee, watching the birds—including one vibrant orange tanager my husband excitedly spotted. Every detail, from the linens to the lanterns, feels designed to help you slow down and savor.

A digital detox that actually feels good

Yes, there’s Wi-Fi. But honestly? We barely used it.

Instead, we let the stars be our screen. At night, we soaked in the hot tub with music playing softly in the background, looking up at a sky so clear we could actually photograph constellations with our phones. It was that stunning.

We played cards. We read books. We talked. We just were.

Tip: Bring your own snacks, games, or favorite books. And challenge yourself to unplug. Even for a day. You’ll be amazed at how good it feels.

It feels too magical to be real—but it is

There’s a certain stillness at Dunya Camp that you can’t fake. It’s not performative. It’s not trying too hard. It’s just effortlessly serene.

Candlelit pathways, sunset views, soft throws, and panoramic decks—it all felt cinematic in the best way. A pinch-me-is-this-real kind of experience.

Each night, the sky came alive with gorgeous sunsets.

We felt grounded. Clear. Present. And honestly? A little bit in awe.

Simple joys & slow travel vibes

When we did venture out, it was to explore nearby small towns and stumble upon local gems—like the farm stand where we bought the juiciest, sun-warmed Georgia peaches straight off the truck.

We wandered into antique stores, drove winding roads with no agenda, and followed trails that opened into peaceful mountain overlooks. Nothing was rushed. Everything felt just right.

Dunya Camp is perfectly positioned for those who want a little adventure—but on your terms.

Glamping with intention

What sets Dunya apart isn’t just the beauty—it’s the thoughtfulness behind every detail.

There are no TVs or generators disrupting the peace. Tents are spaced to preserve privacy and the natural landscape. You’re encouraged to leave no trace, respect the quiet, and honor the land.

It’s luxury that asks you to be present—not passive.

Final thoughts

We came to Dunya Camp exhausted and overwhelmed.

We left rested, reconnected, and fully ourselves again.

Tucked away in the hills of Summerville, Georgia, Dunya Camp is surprisingly accessible—just 90 minutes from Atlanta, around 3.5 hours from Nashville, and an easy drive from much of the Southeast. That makes it an ideal weekend retreat for couples who desperately need a reset, but can’t take a full week off or hop on a long flight.

And yet, the experience feels worlds away.

In just two nights, we felt what so many studies say is true: Stepping away from screens, noise, and constant demands is healing—mentally, emotionally, and even physically. Our nervous systems slowed down. Our sleep was deeper.

And our conversations—those were the best parts.

They weren’t about the kids. Or the household chores.

They were real, raw, meaningful.

The kind of conversations that remind you why you fell in love in the first place.

If you’re feeling tapped out, burnt out, or just in need of space to be, this is the kind of place that holds you gently while you find your way back to center.

Need to know

Packing tips: While you’ll have modern conveniences like heat, AC, and an en suite bathroom, glamping is still rooted in nature. Bring comfy layers, a flashlight, your favorite wine or snacks, and anything that enhances your offline time.
