Hotel Spotlight: Waldorf Astoria Berlin
Curator’s statement

During my last visit to Berlin for ITB, I had the pleasure of staying at one of the city’s finest addresses. The Waldorf Astoria Berlin is a masterclass in modern luxury, blending Art Deco elegance with contemporary sophistication. From the moment you arrive, the experience feels both private and grand. The check-in process is seamless and welcoming, with a lobby that offers cookies and a sense of calm. The hotel’s attention to detail—like the Lego set of the building available for purchase—adds a playful touch to the otherwise quiet luxury atmosphere. This is a place where every element, from the sweeping city views to the inventive cocktails, is designed to impress.

Location

The Waldorf Astoria Berlin is ideally situated right by Zoo train station, placing guests at the heart of Berlin’s vibrant City West district. The hotel is within walking distance of the iconic Kurfürstendamm shopping boulevard, home to luxury brands like Chanel and Versace, as well as cultural landmarks such as the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and the Berlin Zoo. For those seeking local flavors, one of Berlin’s top dürüm spots is just across the street. Dürüm is very similar to a Döner, but instead of the thicker pita-style bread, it uses a thin lavash, and Dürümcü Baba makes some of the best. SO GOOD! The hotel’s central location also makes it easy to explore the rest of the city, with major transit hubs and attractions nearby.

Rooms and suites

The Waldorf Astoria Berlin offers 228 rooms and suites, each designed with a blend of classic comfort and modern technology. The rooms feature marble bathrooms, Nespresso machines, built-in mirror TVs, and sweeping views of the Berlin skyline. The suites are particularly impressive, with spacious living areas, powder rooms, ample closet space, and floor-to-ceiling windows that invite you to sit and soak in the cityscape.

The bathrooms are a standout, especially in the suites, where the tub faces a window with city views and the mirror doubles as a TV. The King Tower Suites, located on the upper floors, offer private living areas, kitchenettes, and access to a dedicated tower elevator, ensuring both privacy and convenience. For those seeking the ultimate in luxury, the Presidential Suite spans 280 square meters and features 360-degree views, a grand piano, fireplace, and two private balconies.
