Maldives Resort Review: Baros
Curator’s statement

We loved the overwater villa we stayed in! It was Room 313 and it was an excellent choice, as all we could see was the endless turquoise water and sky. The villa is stunning, everything about it from the interior design to the outdoor deck area that had the wow factor times three. The private infinity pool, comfortable seating area and lounge chairs were hard to pull yourself away from. We could have stayed there all day but we ended up snorkeling for 4-5 hours a day as it was fabulous. The sunsets from our room were exquisite. Over water Villas 311-315 were the best in our opinion.

Our personal assistant was 5-star trained and it showed. He was a charming and knowledgable young man who made our stay the best it could be. He was attentive, highly professional and accommodating; we appreciated visiting with him at the meet and greet cocktail hour and we also appreciated his willingness to go the extra mile to make sure everything was going smoothly for us.

The reef is teeming with rays, sharks, turtles, eels, colorful fish and endless "Nemo" moments. We loved the exercise and swam/snorkeled around the island along the drop-off many times a day.

The food was excellent, especially the breakfast.

We liked being close enough to Male, a speedboat away to come and go quickly, which left more time to spend at the resort.

The lobby area is very inviting with swinging lounge chairs and comfortable seating with your feet in the sand.

The gym is first class and my husband went every morning.

The nightly entertainment is wonderful; the bands they brought in were talented and made for a fun evening "out."

The ping pong room was a nice touch which we enjoyed daily.

The large resort infinity pool is quiet and perfect for swimming laps or just hanging onto the edge and enjoying the sunsets. The open bar area on the top floor of the lighthouse restaurant was amazing and a great place to hang out and take in the views.

All of the staff was very friendly and eager to please; we felt all of them had a good attitude and were warm and genuine in their communications.

The dive shop rents underwater cameras, which we were happy to use.

Overall this resort is a little more formal and stylish than others, but this is a good thing for those looking for a more sophisticated, elegant and pampered stay. Baros holds its own in this department and may even qualify for a 6-star rating given all of its amenities.
