Curator’s statement
I recently returned to Paris and spent time at La Fantaisie in the 9th arrondissement, and it immediately struck me as something different from the more traditional luxury hotels in the city. This is very much a “Home of Joy,” as the hotel describes it, and that feeling comes through in everything from the whimsical, garden-inspired design to the lively energy across its dining spaces. With just 73 rooms, it feels intimate and boutique, but still delivers the full-service experience of a five-star property. The overall vibe is playful, slightly irreverent, and unpretentious, with a design narrative rooted in nature and fantasy that softens the urban setting.

The Fora Perks
La Fantaisie is part of Fora Reserve, making it a strong option for clients who value independent luxury with added benefits. Booking through me includes daily breakfast, a hotel credit, welcome amenities, potential upgrades, and flexible check-in/check-out when available. It’s a great fit for clients who want something more design-led and personality-driven than a classic palace hotel, while still maintaining a high level of service and comfort.

Where to stay
The hotel is located on Rue Cadet in the 9th arrondissement, a fun, local-feeling neighborhood within walking distance of Opéra Garnier, Grands Boulevards, and Montmartre. It’s central without being overly touristy, which makes it ideal for clients who want to feel immersed in Parisian life while still being close to major sights. The street itself is lined with cafés, bakeries, and independent shops, and the hotel opens right onto this energy with its café spilling out onto the sidewalk. One of the standout features is the hotel’s garden, which is surprisingly rare in Paris and creates a calm, almost hidden oasis in the middle of the city.

Rooms & suites
The 63 rooms and 10 suites are designed as individual “havens of peace,” which feels accurate once you step inside. Rooms are not overly large, but they are thoughtfully laid out with soft textures, layered colors, and a slightly whimsical, residential feel. Many overlook either the garden courtyard or the surrounding Parisian rooftops, and the overall effect is quiet and cocooning. This is not a hotel about over-the-top opulence; it’s more about comfort, charm, and design detail. It works particularly well for couples or solo travelers who appreciate boutique scale and aesthetic storytelling. It feels like you're in a very stylish Parisian apartment.

Culinary & cocktails
The food and beverage offering is a major highlight and very much part of the hotel’s identity. The main restaurant is centered around a lush courtyard garden, which creates a unique indoor-outdoor feel that’s rare in Paris. The cuisine is intentionally simple, seasonal, and joyful, with colorful, generous plates designed for sharing and lingering meals. The breakfast buffet here is especially strong and feels elevated without being overly formal. The café at street level keeps things easy-peasy throughout the day, while the rooftop bar adds a completely different energy. Set among greenery with views over the Paris rooftops, it’s both fun and stylish, with well-executed cocktails and a social atmosphere that attracts both guests and locals.

Spa & wellness
The spa is another standout and feels like a hidden sanctuary beneath the hotel. It offers a full hydrotherapy experience, including a hammam, two saunas, and multiple pools with hot, cold, and mineral options, along with a jacuzzi. It’s the kind of space that encourages guests to truly slow down, and it’s especially appealing after a full day of exploring the city. The atmosphere is calm, immersive, and a bit transportive, which aligns well with the hotel’s overall concept of escape within the city.

Need to know
La Fantaisie opened relatively recently and still feels fresh and under-the-radar compared to more established Paris luxury hotels. The design is bold and not for everyone, so it’s best suited for clients who appreciate a more creative, lifestyle-driven aesthetic rather than classic Parisian decor. Rooms are on the smaller side, which is typical for the city, but the lovely public spaces, garden, and rooftop help balance that. The hotel also attracts a mix of locals and guests, particularly in the restaurant and rooftop bar, which adds to the energy.
