Curator’s statement
Auckland is special to me because it was my first experience of New Zealand. From travelling out of the airport to the city, everything was easy and beautiful. The city is full of fun! There are new things to explore on every corner, and we even ended up at a skateboard competition one day by mistake—something so random but watching it was so addictive.

Day 1: Harbour views & city vibes

Start your Auckland weekend strolling around the beautiful waterfront at Viaduct Harbour. Grab brunch nearby before exploring the marina, luxury yachts, and lively bars along the harbour. In the afternoon, head up the iconic Sky Tower for panoramic views across the city and coastline.
As the evening arrives, book drinks by the water at the Viaduct or nearby Wynyard Quarter, where the atmosphere feels vibrant yet relaxed. Finish the night with dinner overlooking the harbour and soak up Auckland’s buzzing nightlife scene.
Day 2: Art, culture & hidden fun

Spend your morning exploring the incredible Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, one of New Zealand’s most impressive cultural spaces. The gallery combines stunning architecture with both local and international artwork, making it a must-visit even for casual art lovers.
After lunch, switch things up with one of Auckland’s fun adult-friendly maze or immersive game experiences before heading into the city’s arcade scene for cocktails, games, and nostalgic fun. Odyssey Sensory Maze is a must visit! They have escape rooms too, but the maze is like living all of your childhood dreams—I would do it again every day! Add in a round of mini golf by the harbour for the perfect playful city break afternoon.
In the evening, enjoy rooftop drinks and late-night city energy around the central CBD. Auckland really comes alive after dark, especially on weekends.
Day 3: Markets, coastal walks & cruise port convenience

Ease into your final morning with coffee and a wander around the waterfront or local weekend markets depending on the day you visit. If the weather is good, take a scenic coastal walk or ferry ride for one last look at Auckland’s harbour and islands.
One of the best things about Auckland is how convenient it is for travellers. Auckland Airport offers fantastic international connections, while the centrally located Queens Wharf cruise terminal makes the city ideal for pre- or post-cruise stays. You can go from ship or plane straight into the heart of the city within minutes.
Finish your trip with a relaxed harbour lunch before heading to the airport or cruise port feeling like you’ve experienced the perfect mix of fun, culture, and waterfront luxury.
Need to know
I always recommend staying close to the Waterfront or City Centre because it makes the whole weekend feel easier and more enjoyable, with most attractions, bars, and restaurants within walking distance. Auckland is perfect for both cruise passengers and fly-in visitors thanks to the convenient location of both Auckland Airport and Queens Wharf Cruise Terminal. I would also suggest pre-booking popular activities like mini golf, immersive games, and harbour restaurants on weekends as they can get busy very quickly.
