The location is filled with a wide array of wildlife and various tropical plants, with flower displays in full color. As a resident of the region, I assure you the area is full of friendly locals and many expats to make a visit to the region both relaxing and welcoming. Costa Rica is widely known for its sustainable environmental practices and Guanacaste has a large investment in ecological preservation. Your experience will be nothing short of paradise.

-La Leona waterfall located a short distance from Liberia and set in the shadows of Rincon de La vieja Volcano. It is a hiker’s dream with mini pools, flora and fauna with the ultimate climax reaching the thunderous waterfall and surrounding rocky out croppings.
Day trips
Day trips include visits to the Tropical rainforests in Upala nearby Tenorio volcano with transport & personal guide where you can see various wildlife such as: birds, sloths, reptiles and more in their natural habitats. You may even visit one of the many hidden waterfalls. The driving distance is about two hours. Group trips can be booked at a cost of $80 pp including refreshments and fruit.
Another option is to visit Playa Ostional, a beach where Olive Ridley sea turtles nest and lay eggs. A prime time to visit is in the months of August to December where they come in large nesting groups known as Arridabas. It’s an astounding experience to visit so close to these large turtles all the while the National Preserve protects the turtles’ eggs from poachers and predators before they hatch and crawl out to sea. The driving distance is about two hours but, the memories of your visit will last a lifetime.
