Advisor - Long Weekend in Mendoza for the Wine-Loving Outdoor Enthusiasts
Curator’s statement

Mendoza, Argentina, is a stunning blend of natural beauty, rich culture, and world-renowned wine. Nestled at the foothills of the Andes Mountains, the region offers breathtaking landscapes, with snow-capped peaks, expansive vineyards, and vast deserts. Mendoza was one of the destinations on our honeymoon and since then, we haven’t been able to stay away. Each time we leave, it feels like it takes a little more of my heart with it. This enchanting region offers the perfect blend of world-class winery tours, thrilling outdoor adventures, and exceptional cuisine, making every visit feel like a new discovery. It’s a place that continues to captivate us, drawing us back again and again.

Things to do in Mendoza, Argentina

  • Winery visits: Mendoza is famous for its Malbec, and there is no lack of wineries waiting to welcome you for a visit. Some serve lunch, some do tastings and some do tours. I like doing a mix of all three and trying out new wineries every visit.

  • Biking: Whether it's through the vineyards or on the bike trails, Mendoza is a great city to spend some time biking.

  • Asado: No trip to Mendoza is complete without experiencing an asado. There are many ways to do this, whether it's through a cooking class, a demonstration at your hotel or at the end of a hike. I will be happy to help you figure out which fits you best!

  • Explore the Andes: Get out and spend a day hiking on one of the many trails in the Andes. I recommend a local guide! If you aren't into hiking, you can do a guided van tour that will take you into the Andes to see some overlooks.

  • Horseback riding: Mendoza has tons of options for horseback riding — in the vineyards or in the mountains!

  • Rafting: For those outdoor enthusiasts, there is rafting on the Mendoza River during their summer months.

  • Shopping: There are tons of stores in downtown Mendoza to walk through.

  • Explore the smaller towns of Mendoza outside the city center: Mendoza is huge with many different provinces. Spend some time exploring those! My favorites are Chacras de Coria and Luján de Cuyo.

  • Lake Potrerillos: Kayaking, fishing, windsurfing and sailing on the beautiful blue waters of Lake Potrerillos.

Day trips

I wish I could send everyone I know to one of the Palma ranches - Rancho e Cuero or El Totoral.
