My Story
Active traveler, over 40 years experience traveling in and out of the US. Started formally booking travel with Fora in 2025. Veteran of the US Navy where I got my start touring Europe. I usually host at least one big travel destination a year (2026 African Safari) along with many shorter ˋtravel with usˋ destinations/cruises throughout the year. I travel light, with experience as a scout leader and traveling Europe using public transportation, every ounce counts! Working off my bucket list to visit all seven continents. Africa and Australia are the final ones.
You will probably note that most of my pictures while traveling have a beer in them. I am an active home brewer, so I usually like to sample local brews and wine, while relaxing, conversing, and people watching.
Travel Style
I travel light, making sure everything fits into a carry-on and day bag. Primarily I look for cruises once every month or two, trying out different cruise lines and destinations. I prefer the shoulder seasons, not a fan of huge crowds. I enjoy walking small European towns, soaking up the local culture and being in the moment. My son is currently stationed in Germany, so we try and visit Europe once or twice a year, meeting up with him somewhere along the way, whether cruising or land travel.
I lived in Florida for 30 years and have sailed to many of the Caribbean destinations more than once, so now I use my cruise time more for health/wellness/entertainment than exploring. My preference is expedition and river cruising on small ships where travel is more intimate and you get to know your travel companions, Antarctica (Greg Mortimer) and Vietnam/Cambodia (The Jahan) being prime examples!
When it comes to all-inclusive travel, I prefer the 5-star resorts with quite a few stays at the Sandals Resorts, usually traveling with friends in small groups.
Hotel lodging depends on the purpose of my visit, anywhere from 3 to 5 star if I am just passing through or health and wellness!
I love to venture, experience new things, and meet new people.

2025 Star of the Seas Multi-Gen Cruise
This cruise was a multi-generational cruise—grandparents, and adult children with a two-year old grandson. For Wendie and me, it was a last-minute decision to join them on their vacation on this mega-ship cruise and to check out the ship. Our first day, I looked at Wendie and told her I didn’t think this is going to be the cruise for us, but by day seven we were converts and had a wonderful time. Watching Torque in the Aqua Theater, I was amazed at just how far these production shows at sea have come.

Fall Leaves and Food 2025: Enchanted Princess
This was a family cruise with my wife, sister, and brother-in-law to see the port towns and change in colors on the northeastern seashore. This was a reintroduction to cruising for my sister and brother-in-law, which they absolutely loved and didn’t want to leave the ship! The towns that we walked were great with lots to see and do. The color change wasn’t in full swing yet but still had wonderful views. We are also doing this same cruise as a group on the Majestic Princess in 2026 and wanted a preview!

2025 Enchantment of the Seas Anniversary Cruise
This was a five-day cruise out of the Port of Tampa. My wife and I decided to take a quick cruise for our anniversary to unwind, relax, and be pampered for a few days. Enchantment of the Seas is Royal Caribbean Cruises' third-oldest Vision Class ship, revitalized in 2016.

Madrid for a Pre-Cruise Destination
This was a pre-cruise stop. We flew in to Madrid, took the subway to our hotel, and then explored this pleasantly walkable city for the next two days. As we walked around, I remember telling my wife that I could see us coming back to explore more of Madrid. One day, we took a quick train trip up to Segovia to walk around the city and grab a bite to eat. Lastly, it was a comfortable train ride to Barcelona with a chance to see the countryside before boarding our cruise ship.

2024 Vietnam Anniversary Cruise Aboard The Jahan
This Vietnam and Cambodia Mekong River cruise was our annual special vacation planned to coincide with our 25th anniversary. The crew aboard The Jahan were truly amazing, greeting us by name as we boarded all the way through to disembarkation. At the time, the boat was only at half capacity so we got to know all of the passengers and even made Facebook friends that we still share our travels with. The twice daily guided tours introduced us to amazing people and two rich cultures that we continue to talk about and will treasure forever!

A Couples & Family Weekend Visit to Amberg, Germany
My son is stationed in Germany and lives in Amberg, so it gives my wife and I an opportunity to visit once or twice a year. Germany has an excellent public transit system, so getting around is fairly straight-forward. We have visited the Christmas Markets in winter and this last trip gave us the opportunity to stroll through the town, relax, and visit with family and friends over great food and beer!!
