Curator’s statement
This was a family cruise with my wife, sister, and brother-in-law to see the port towns and change in colors on the northeastern seashore. This was a reintroduction to cruising for my sister and brother-in-law, which they absolutely loved and didn’t want to leave the ship! The towns that we walked were great with lots to see and do. The color change wasn’t in full swing yet but still had wonderful views. We are also doing this same cruise as a group on the Majestic Princess in 2026 and wanted a preview!

Arrive in New York

You may be able to see the ship way in the back!
We flew into LGA and stayed the night at the New York LaGuardia Airport Marriott. Shuttle from the airport to the hotel was complimentary and left every 20 minutes. It was already there when we got off the plane.
The Marriott was clean, modern, and had excellent food. I was thinking we would be listening to the jets and traffic, but once inside the rooms we couldn’t hear a thing. Very restful night!
We scheduled a transfer for the morning that took us to the dropoff area at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Boarding was uneventful. After we dropped our luggage off at the room, we grabbed a bite to eat, walked to the deck to familiarize ourselves with the layout, and get pics of the NY skyline.
Newport, Rhode Island

Cliff Walk. Some areas you had to traverse rocks!
We had to tender at Newport, RI, where we took the free shuttle over to Cliff Walk. We only walked from the stairs along the coast to the end and admired the beautiful views and mansions.
We jumped back on the bus and hopped off in town to catch the seafood festival, where we grabbed a lobster roll and a beer.
We then walked through town to window-shop before stopping in to Brick Alley Pub and Restaurant for a Whalers ‘Rise’ beer. Food looked great!

Next was Boston, MA where it was raining so we spent the day relaxing and reading on the ship!
Portland, Maine

Fun, short ride. They offer military discounts.
Portland, ME was our next stop, where we rode the Narrow Gauge Railroad along the coast, and took a shuttle ride around town with Portland Discovery.
We were told to check out the Holy Donut before they sold out, which had a huge line earlier. We ordered the pumpkin and a Bacon Cheddar potato donut, which were delicious (I am not the foodie!).

Donuts—as healthy for you as beer!
Of course, I had to check out the beer at Brickyard Hollow Brewing and Shipyard Brewing, neither disappointed!
Halifax, Nova Scotia

Walking around the Citadel
We had a sea day on either side of our day in Halifax, NS, where we walked the boardwalk, visited the Maritime Museum, and walked past the Citadel—which I had already visited on a prior trip—on our way to have a spot of tea across from the Public Gardens.
After walking through the gardens, we headed back to the ship, but not before grabbing some fish and chips with an Alexander Keith’s beer at The Brown Hound.

In sum
The Enchanted Princess did not disappoint. The staff, service, entertainment, and food were top-notch, typical of Princess.
The ship seemed packed as both theater shows were consistently full, but walking around the ship there was plenty of space.
We spent a good bit of time on the back deck for the last sea days enjoying the sunshine.

Lobster! Tour company is right there!
Need to know
Have a plan for what you want to see before you get off the ship. These towns were very walkable and had shuttles available for tours around town. If you are looking for smaller personalized tours, it would be a good idea to set that up in advance.
With the ship being pretty full, you want to allow extra time for reboarding. The lines can get pretty long.
Don't forget trip insurance to cover health outside of the US!
