Our Story
American expat running a travel business from a surf town in Portugal. Unapologetically on brand.
Travel Style
Hi, I’m Meagan, founder of One Shot Wander Experiences, a travel brand based in Ericeira, Portugal. The way I approach travel is simple—it should move you, not just take you somewhere. To me, that means immersing yourself in new cultures, new people, and new experiences, the kind you carry with you long after you’ve unpacked your bags. I book destinations worldwide and spend a lot of my time out in it myself, traveling, exploring, and constantly discovering new corners to bring back to my clients. I also partner with wellness and fitness professionals to source and design retreats, finding places that feel as good to be in as they do to move through. I’m naturally drawn to destinations that offer a balance of movement and stillness, from surfing in Uluwatu to hiking in Patagonia, time in the Dolomites or the French Alps, or bucket-list experiences in places like Morocco and Antarctica. Different in every sense, but all the kind of travel that stays with you. Before taking on travel professionally, I spent nearly a decade in international marketing at New Balance, Dr. Martens, and Adobe. That experience gave me a strong foundation in storytelling, brand building, and strategy—skills I now use to thoughtfully design travel experiences that feel both elevated and intentional. Whether I’m planning a honeymoon, a multi-stop itinerary, or a wellness retreat, my focus is always the same: creating something that feels like you, just in a different part of the world.

Do you ever find a partner who is so good that you don't want to share them with anyone else for fear of not being able to work with them again because they'll be oversubscribed? That's how awesome Meagan is. Meagan planned a 10-day trip to the UK and Spain for my family. She developed the itinerary, found places for us to stay, suggested flights, proposed restaurants, booked tours, and more. When one housing offering fell through, Meagan found new options (that were even better!). And when the housing we selected didn't match how it was advertised, Meagan negotiated a refund for us. Every tour we took-- from a day trip to Stonehenge, to a walking tour of London architecture, from a pub crawl to a hike along the the Camino de Santiago-- was expertly guided with clear communications from the host. We were in Spain to see the solar eclipse; Meagan found a private event where we spent time with a chef, had a great vantage for the eclipse, and then had a fabulous meal. Meagan provided a wealth of background information, including suggested books, that made the trip more interesting and unique. She responds to emails at all hours of the day and night, and booked additional tours while we were abroad. In sum, working with Meagan took nearly all of the worry out of travel planning and gave us a trip we'll remember for years to come. I look forward to working with her on our next trip!

Meagan made the entire booking process seamless and was incredibly responsive. She arranged thoughtful touches like a welcome note and bottle of wine, and helped coordinate an unforgettable private truffle hunting experience that made the stay even more special. I look forward to working with her again in the near future!

I had never used a travel advisor, so I was hesitant to dive in. I'm so glad I did! Meagan was warm, knowledgeable, expedient, and thorough. We all had a marvelous and memorable experience in London and Ireland, even our three turbulent teenagers!"
I will certainly keep you in mind for the future and I have already talked about you to a few friends. They are in the nascent planning stages, so nothing may materialize, but I am happy to keep giving out your information!

We had an absolutely fantastic experience working with Meagan to plan our 20th anniversary trip to Mallorca. From the very beginning, she took the time to understand exactly what we wanted from this vacation and customized every detail to create the perfect itinerary for us.
Her attention to detail, thoughtfulness, and genuine care were evident throughout the entire planning process. Every recommendation and experience was perfectly tailored to what we were hoping for, making our trip feel romantic, relaxing, and truly unforgettable.
When one of our private tours was unexpectedly canceled due to weather, Meagan immediately stepped in, quickly rearranged our plans, and found us another tour that ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Knowing she was readily available and looking out for us gave us so much peace of mind.
Meagan didn’t just plan a vacation, she helped create incredible memories that we’ll cherish for years to come. We always felt that she had our best interests at heart, and her professionalism, responsiveness, and personal touch made all the difference.
Thank you, Meagan, for taking such wonderful care of us and making our 20th anniversary so special.

Luxury on the Road: How to Balance Van Life & Boutique Hotels from France to Portugal
Did I ever tell you about the time I went road-tripping across western Europe? Luxury on the road is where freedom meets comfort. A van parked cliffside at sunset one day, a sinking into crisp hotel sheets the next. This guide is all about finding that balance: pairing the freedom of van life with the indulgence of boutique hotel stays as you explore Europe’s southwest coast from France to Portugal. By renting a camper van, the journey becomes the destination—a chance to chase sunsets, linger in hidden coastal towns, and stay wherever the moment feels right. In some places, that might mean parking cliffside with an ocean view and a bottle of local wine. In others, it’s checking into a stylish boutique hotel for a hot shower, soft linens, and maybe a rooftop cocktail. Because true luxury isn’t just about where you stay—it’s about how you travel. And on cross–multi-country road trips, you can have the best of both worlds.

A Month in Morocco: From the Medina to the Mountains
Out of every destination I’ve been to, I’ve received the most mixed reviews about Morocco. Some raved about it, while others warned me: it’s not safe to travel alone as a woman, the harassment is unbearable, don’t even think about renting a car…the list goes on. I’m pleased to share that my experience was the complete opposite of those warnings. I found the people to be incredibly kind and helpful, the scenery to be unbelievable, and the culture to be vibrant and full of history. Morocco gave me everything I could have wanted out of a trip: mountain adventures, a great surf destination with a vibe to match, fascinating traditions, endless shopping, and new learnings at every turn. I spent a full month there and still feel like I only scratched the surface. Pretty much everything I love most about travel came together in one destination—good surf, scenic mountains, interesting culture, and those bohemian vibes I’m always chasing.

Craving the Cotswolds but Don't Have the Time? Try this Countryside Escape Closer to London
Cliveden House felt like stepping into British Royalty — complete with history, scandal and serious luxury. It’s rare to find a countryside escape this close to London that feels so peaceful yet so grand. Between the royal connections, dreamy gardens and one of the best scones I’ve ever had, it was the kind of day that makes you pause and appreciate the beauty around you. I left already planning my return — with my dog and a book about all its scandalous past.
