My Story
California-based and affiliated with Virtuoso through Fora, I design highly tailored journeys for travelers who want more than just a trip; they want access, insight, and experiences that feel truly personal. Having explored more than 30 countries across nearly every continent, my perspective is both global and well-informed.
My approach is intentionally curated: pairing world-class hotels (from boutique to 5-star) and exceptional service with moments that feel authentic and unscripted. Think private wildlife encounters, behind-the-scenes cultural access, or a perfectly placed boutique stay that transforms how you experience a destination.
Before launching into bespoke travel design, my career spanned destination marketing and global tourism strategy, giving me a unique advantage of understanding not just where to go, but how to unlock the very best of it. That translates into seamless planning, elevated perks, and itineraries that feel custom and effortless from start to finish.
Time spent living and working in Australia helped shape a true specialty in Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji, where I offer on-the-ground insight, trusted local connections, and a nuanced understanding of how to experience these destinations beyond the expected. With 10 years in tour operations, I also have extensive experience planning travel in Europe, Japan, Africa, and North America.
From milestone celebrations to once-in-a-lifetime journeys, I work closely with each client to craft travel that is thoughtful, distinctive, and deeply memorable, the kind of experience you can’t quite replicate on your own.
Travel Style
I consider myself very well-traveled, with a hi-lo travel style. For myself, I often splurge on a few hotels and then sprinkle in a few unique, boutique, budget-friendly accommodations, just to mix it up. I want to meet the locals and get off the beaten path. I pride myself on finding the hidden gems in any destination.
I have worked in the travel industry for most of my career, and I live to travel.

Lisa was available when we had questions and was quick to respond. She let the hotel know it was our anniversary and they left a bottle of sparking wine, chocolate covered strawberries and a nice note too. A very special touch. I highly recommend Lisa.

Fairmount or Kea Lani as we call it was perfect. As mentioned, we have stayed there a number of times and the room location in the corner off the upper pool that you secured was great. We had never eaten at the breakfast buffet and it was off the charts. All the food was super fresh and very tasty. The service at the buffet was also top-notch.

We recently planned a family trip to visit our daughter studying abroad in Madrid, followed by four days in London, and Lisa Verbeck made the entire experience exceptional. From the start of the Christmas holiday season, Lisa curated a memorable trip for all five of us, taking the time to understand what was important to our family.
She arranged fantastic boutique hotels in the heart of both cities, giving us easy access to sightseeing while ensuring an elegant and comfortable stay. Although we had already mapped out much of our sightseeing, Lisa added thoughtful touches and fun suggestions, plus helpful discounts through Fora, that made the trip even better.
Planning was seamless thanks to her expertise, responsiveness, and attention to detail. We will absolutely be using Lisa again for future trips.

Our group of ten girlfriends celebrated our 60th birthdays with a wonderful wine-tasting getaway to Sonoma, perfectly planned by Lisa. Additionally, Lisa was able to secure complimentary breakfast each day, a welcome bottle of champagne and room upgrades!! She did an exceptional job arranging our stay at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and provided great recommendations for things to do in the area — everything from start to finish was seamless on her end and I wouldn't hesitate to use her again!

2 Weeks in Japan: Why This Couples Itinerary Was Worth a 3-Year Wait
Japan has been calling me for years. I was actually booked to attend the Tokyo Olympics twice, but both trips were canceled during the pandemic. Like so many travelers, I had been dreaming of going to Japan. After years of waiting and planning trips for many of my clients, I finally made MY trip happen. We went with another couple and spent two unforgettable weeks traveling from Tokyo to Kanazawa, and then onto Kyoto, and finally relaxing onsens of Hakone. Between cities, we tested train routes, sampled ryokans and hotels, and found those authentic, less-crowded moments that always make the best memories.

Sailing South to Mexico on the Norwegian Bliss
Having traveled to Mexico previously, I was excited to experience it in a new way—by sea. NCL's Mexican Riviera cruise included extended port time and my first visit to Puerto Vallarta, making it easy to explore, dine locally, and enjoy each destination without feeling rushed. It’s an ideal itinerary for first-time travelers to Mexico or those who know Mexico but want to see it from a fresh point of view.

Luxury with a River View: My Stay at W Brisbane
While Sydney and Melbourne typically get the spotlight, Brisbane is buzzing. With the 2032 Olympics ahead, the city is investing in culture, dining, and green spaces. New nonstops from LAX and SFO make it an easy hop for Americans, and it’s a natural launchpad for the Great Barrier Reef, Whitsundays, and Daintree.

UnCruise Alaska Trip Report: How a Small-Ship Cruise Won Us Over in Alaska
This past summer, my partner and I decided to embark on a small-ship adventure in Alaska with UnCruise. The allure of UnCruise was its promise of an intimate, eco-conscious exploration of Alaska’s breathtaking wilderness. Unlike large-ship cruises, almost everything is included in an UnCruise — food, drinks, on-board equipment.

Plan Your Luxurious Private Island Retreat in Fiji
With more than 300 islands, Fiji offers everything from intimate boutique resorts and adult-only barefoot luxury hideaways to private island resorts that guests can have all to themselves. I've been lucky enough to have traveled to Fiji a handful of times; on a family vacation, a romantic week with my fiancé, a girlfriend's getaway, and most recently, I organized a private incentive trip for a luxury client. This guide will showcase a few of Fiji's top private island resorts for those who want to plan their own luxury private island retreat as well as describe a few other of my favorite resorts.

A Mother-Son Adventure in Cinque Terre
Embarking on a journey through Italy's enchanting Cinque Terre with my son was more than just a vacation; it was an adventure that strengthened our bond and left us with memories to cherish for a lifetime.
Over five days, we explored the rugged coastline, picturesque villages and the serene beauty of the Cinque Terre National Park. Each step brought us closer and revealed the magic of this UNESCO World Heritage site. My mother had passed away the previous year, so I thought it was important that my son and I spend some quality time together. I booked this trip on the eve of the first anniversary of my mother's passing. The trip happened to fall over the same dates the following year.
