I flew direct from London with British Airways to Keflavik (KEF) Airport and stayed four nights at the centrally-located five-star EDITION Hotel Reykjavik. My itinerary included a Golden Circle Tour, covering four iconic Icelandic landmarks and visits to two geothermal spas: the stunning Sky Lagoon and the exclusive Retreat at the Blue Lagoon. If I return — and I’m sure I will — staying at the Retreat Hotel will be a priority, along with exploring Eleven Deplar Farm, a short domestic flight from Reykjavik.

Originally, the focus of this journey was Malaysia — a country I've only briefly explored, having flown through Kuala Lumpur (KL) a few times, with previous stays in Langkawi and northern Borneo. But as any seasoned traveler knows, the itinerary can take on a life of its own. We decided to kick off in Singapore, a familiar city we've visited a few times before, but this time with a twist. I’d always been intrigued by the nearby islands, so Bintan in Indonesia — just an hour's ferry ride from Singapore — was a natural choice for our second stop. From there, it was on to KL, and finally, a nostalgic return to the beautiful island of Langkawi. This time, though, I’ll be revisiting the same resort I stayed at 23 years ago. It feels like coming full circle!
