Curator’s statement
Palm Springs has long been a playground for Hollywood’s elite, and during Modernism Week, it transforms into a living museum of mid-century design, art and culture. As a luxury traveler, I was captivated by the city’s seamless blend of retro glamor and contemporary sophistication. This is where classic architecture meets Californian desert hospitality. From iconic homes to stylish poolside retreats, every corner of Palm Springs exudes a sense of timeless elegance. Experiencing Modernism Week (for the third time, and especially during their 20th anniversary) allowed me to immerse myself in this unique design movement. All while indulging in good hotels, extensive dining options and exclusive soirées. This made it an unmissable escape for those who appreciate both modernist history and architecture.

Event highlights
Keynote presentation by Dr. Raymond Neutra: One of the most captivating moments was hearing Dr. Raymond Neutra speak about his father, the legendary architect Richard Neutra. His insights into his father’s pioneering designs, including the iconic Kaufmann House, provided a rare and personal perspective into the architectural movement that shaped Palm Springs.
PS ModCom iconic home tour: The Griffing & Goldman Residences tour was a standout experience. It offered a rare look inside meticulously restored 1956 mid-century homes. The balance of historic authenticity and modern luxury showcased why these homes remain so desirable today.
King of Cool soirée at the Steve McQueen residence: One of the most exclusive and unforgettable events of Modernism Week. This intimate soirée transported guests back to the golden age of Hollywood glamor. Hosted at Steve McQueen’s former Palm Springs residence, the evening was a true homage to the actor’s effortless style. It was complete with vintage cars, classic cocktails and a guest list filled with design aficionados and film buffs alike. The setting, a stunning mid-century modern home with floor-to-ceiling windows and breathtaking desert views, perfectly captured the essence of both McQueen’s legendary cool and Palm Springs’ timeless allure.
