Why travel to Montego Bay versus other parts of Jamaica?

First, it’s worth noting that visiting Montego Bay doesn’t preclude you from visiting other parts of the island like Blue Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Negril's Seven Mile Beach and famous West End Cliffs or Jamaica’s bioluminescent lagoon. Traveling around Jamaica isn’t overly difficult, and we can absolutely supply you with tips if you want to explore on your own, or hook you up with tours and excursions if you prefer more of an on-the-rails experience.

As for why Montego Bay is worth visiting: it’s one of the best places in Jamaica for luxe resorts, gorgeous beaches and an ultra-lax vibe. Beyond that, our travel guide to Montego Bay has more details.

3 of the most lavish Montego Bay resorts

Read on for three awesome Montego Bay resorts.

1. Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall: a posh, adults-only, all-inclusive choice ideal for couples

Offering a fresh take on island luxury, Hyatt Zilara boasts a much more contemporary look and feel compared to the tropical theme you’ll typically find at Montego Bay resorts (not that there’s anything wrong with the latter). Sleek decor, a vibrant nightlife and a bit of a cosmopolitan vibe make Hyatt Zilara an ideal destination for young couples and groups. Relaxation is certainly a focus here, but nights can be fun and electric, too.

The best rooms are incredibly spacious, offer gorgeous ocean views and come with butler service. But even the standard rooms at Hyatt Zilara offer upscale amenities and furnishings.

Hyatt Zilara’s all-inclusive plan includes access to five bars and six restaurants spanning local and international menus, all of which source their ingredients locally. In addition to meals, guests can enjoy unlimited alcohol — including top-shelf wines and liquors — as well as access to a bevy of watersports, events and more.

Plan and book your trip with Fora to upgrade your stay at Hyatt Zilara.

Fora Perks at Hyatt Zilara:

  • $50 hotel / resort credit.

  • Welcome amenity.

  • Extended check-in/out whenever possible.

2. Round Hill Hotel & Villas: an intimate, boutique-style resort in Montego Bay

Round Hill Hotel & Villas offers a mix of traditional hotel rooms and private villas. But unlike Hyatt Zilara, this Montego Bay resort leans a bit more into its island roots, with an emphasis on tranquility and wellness. Whereas our previous resort offers a delightful mix of excitement and relaxation, Round Hill Hotel & Villas definitely accentuates the latter.

This is also a smaller resort, so there’s a higher degree of intimacy that some travelers may prefer. Moreover, though several meal plan options are available, Round Hill Hotel & Villas does require an all-inclusive plan. So: it may be a great choice for travelers who don’t necessarily want to spend all their time near their hotel.

Fora Perks at Round Hill Hotel & Villas:

  • $100 hotel / resort credit.

  • Breakfast daily.

  • Upgrade & extended check-in/out whenever possible.

3. Half Moon, Jamaica: an elite Montego Bay resort offering unparalleled service & accommodations

Arguably the most luxurious of all Montego Bay resorts (and perhaps Jamaica in general), Half Moon is a stately choice that blends the best of lax island vibes with elegant overtones. This resort is huge, and offers plenty for every type of traveler. The nightlife isn’t quite as extensive as Hyatt Zilara’s, but there’s a great mix of live entertainment and quiet nights on the beach (or a private terrace).

There’s also a full — and highly reputable — golf course, tennis and pickleball courts, a variety of water sports, an equestrian center and even a “children’s village” that offers plenty to do for little ones.

The dining options are also extensive, ranging from authentic local cuisine to international favorites.
