What’s the best part of Cleveland to stay in?

Generally, you’ll find the best of Cleveland — like the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame — in Downtown. The area's especially ideal for first-timers who want to get their fingers on the pulse of the city. However, there are other areas worth checking out, too. Flats East Bank Entertainment District, for example, has a great nightlife scene.

Ultimately, the answer to this question depends on what you’re interested in doing while you’re in town (and we can totally help you decide).

1. Kimpton Schofield Hotel: a cool boutique hotel in Downtown Cleveland

Kimpton Schofield Hotel, better known as The Schofield, is a cool boutique hotel in Cleveland with a vibe that’s both sophisticated and accessible. If you’re looking for stylish digs for your stay in Cleveland, this is a solid choice.

The rooms and suites feature a smart decor style that incorporates fun art and cozy furnishings. And if you’re looking for a view and something to do, The Schofield’s spacious specialty suites offer sweeping views of the city and a complimentary guitar for “in-room jam sessions.” There’s also a fitness center and Betts, a health-focused restaurant that serves new takes on classic American cuisine.

As for the hotel’s location, The Schofield is set right in the middle of Downtown. Overall, this is one of the coolest hotels in Cleveland, Ohio.

Fora Perks at The Schofield:

  • $50 hotel / resort credit.

  • Breakfast daily.

  • Upgrade & late check-out whenever possible.

2. Metropolitan at The 9, Autograph Collection: one of the most stylish hotels in Cleveland, Ohio

Offering a contemporary take on classic 20th-century styles, Metropolitan at The 9 is a gorgeous hotel with a comparatively unique sense of style and plush furnishings.

Whereas The Schofield — which is just next door — offers a bright color palette with pops of soft wood tones and indie-esque decor, The 9 blends early Hollywood glamor with an artful take on mid-century modern decor: sudden bursts of deep reds provide a striking contrast with a palette that otherwise relies on dark grays, blacks and golds. Oh, and there’s an indoor dog park.

Pro tip: the hotel’s Vault bar and lounge is especially worth checking out. It’s literally set in a bank vault from the 1920s and serves a variety of elevated cocktails. The atmosphere is unique and classy.

(BTW: The 9 is only a few blocks from Playhouse Square, which regularly hosts Broadway, comedy and other shoes.)

3. The Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland: a luxurious choice on the edge of Downtown

The Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland is found on the western edge of Downtown overlooking Ohio’s Cuyahoga River. And as you’d expect from such a prestigious brand, The Ritz-Carlton is one of the most luxurious hotels in Cleveland.

The rooms are elegantly furnished with a sleek, ultra-modern flavor while the hotel’s common spaces present an upscale vibe perfect for ritzy (sorry) gatherings.

The Ritz-Carlton’s location on the western end of Downtown, Cleveland is a plus as well. In its immediate vicinity, the ambiance is quieter. However, historic Tower City Center is just across the street (from the backside of the hotel) and has tons of shops, restaurants and the like. Plus, many of Downtown’s highlights are still within walking distance.

Fora Advisor Lauren Cherney also says, "if you are flying into Cleveland Hopkins airport, there's no need to rent a car! Cleveland’s Rapid Transit system — known as “The Rapid” — runs from the airport right to Tower City," which is within walking distance of all the hotels mentioned thus far.
