Where Art Meets the Sea: Staying at Hotel El Ganzo in San Jose del Cabo

On the outskirts of Cabo proper, Hotel El Ganzo is a quaint, 70-room destination with amazing food, a fantastic spa, pool and beach access, and close proximity to all Cabo has to offer. One of the things I love most about this hotel is that it also doubles as an art gallery of sorts. The owners support local artists and often host residencies for artists throughout the year. Each room was decorated by a different artist, so each room is completely unique. The art often compliments the ocean view you have from your room, and it is clear that everything about the hotel is tied back into the environment that surrounds it. Water conservation, reduced use of plastic, and locally sourced food are all important to the hotel, and these become a part of your stay.

I love Hotel El Ganzo for a long weekend trip and can easily find myself staying on the property the entire time. Enjoy an early morning yoga class in their open-air studio, then head down to the restaurant for a fantastic breakfast (the French toast can’t be beat) before spending an afternoon at the on-site spa, lounging by the rooftop pool with poolside service, or enjoying exclusive beach access. In the evening, there is always live music at the bar and an active reception area where hotel guests congregate.

For those who want to get off property and explore the area, there are multiple restaurants with excellent food within walking distance. Additionally, Hotel El Ganzo is a short drive away from both Acre and Flora Farms, two critically acclaimed farm-to-table restaurants with gorgeous surroundings. I have had two of the best meals of my life at these restaurants and highly recommend getting a reservation if possible! Ride shares to and from the hotel to these restaurants or to Cabo San Lucas are less than $20 per trip (including tip).

Excursions, such as whale watching or to view the iconic Cabo rock formations, are also easy to access from Hotel El Ganzo. Any boat tours coordinated often include transportation and the concierge at the hotel can also help arrange tours for you. From the front desk to the restaurant and the spa, the staff is nothing short of excellent in every service they provide. Whatever you are looking to find in San Jose del Cabo, Hotel El Ganzo either has it or can arrange it for you. I cannot recommend this hotel enough for those looking to spend some time in Baja California!
