Site Inspection at Hotel Gallery Art in Florence, Italy
Curator’s statement

In May of 2024, I did a site inspection of the gorgeous Gallery Art Hotel located around the corner from the Pointe Vecchio. I’ve been to Florence over 10 times and by far this has been one of the top boutique hotels I’ve stayed at and can’t wait to come back again. I’ve already recommended this to one of my clients as she loves boutique hotels. To be in the mix of everything but also come back to a place that is quiet and comfortable is a huge win!

This hotel is one of three Ferragamo hotels in the area and my favorite of the three. This hotel is a hidden gem right in the middle of the very busy Ponte Vecchio. Right in the front of the hotel is a relaxing space for a coffee or afternoon cocktail. You can also head up to the roof-top for a sunset view and toast.

The customer experience is luxurious without having to pay an overly high price. Each detail is thought out from the minute you arrive with a welcoming staff and a refreshing drink. Followed by the staff taking your luggage up to your room ahead of you while you finish checking in. The design of the hotel is breathtaking, balanced between relaxing and Florentine artistry, including the art collection.

I am a very adventurous person but really like to have a comfortable room, bathroom, and need a solid night's sleep. As I work remotely, these are as important as is the WIFI and quiet space for the calls I must take while that comes up. The rooms come with everything you need. From a welcome letter, welcome treat and fabulous bathroom amenities from Tuscan Soul by Salvatore Ferragamo. The bathtub is a huge plus, especially after a long day of exploration when all you want to do is just relax. The bed is one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. The size of the room felt more like a hotel in the US, including an incredible workspace for my computer. The view from the room was a bonus, and each day I’d open the windows and look out watching people go by. I felt like I was at home in a neighborhood instead of a foreign, busy city.

The breakfast area doubles as a relaxing space where you can borrow one of the many books. They have in the library to read while sipping an afternoon aperitivo if you need a break from the crazy tourist life out the doors of the hotel. The spread for breakfast covers everything a guest would want. From the traditional eggs, fruit and cereal to the typical European request of fresh breaks, yogurt, cheeses and meats. Something to not be overlooked is table service. The staff makes a fresh cappuccino upon request and get you ready to explore the wonders of the city of Florence.

This is situated right next to TOTO Restaurant, which is a local spot I’ve been going to for over 10 years. If you want a solid Florentine steak, I recommend this place. It has been family-owned for generations. If you want to enjoy the local life, go to lunch at 1:00-1:30 and you’ll see only Italians with few tourists. Across from there is a wine shop that has every wine you can imagine. They host tastings and have a very knowledgeable staff if you are looking to secure some local wine. Next to the hotel on the other side before the Arno is a Pharmacy. You are also right at the beginning of Ponte Vecchio. You can hop right over to the local side of Florence for some additional exploring.

Overall, this hotel offers a luxurious stay with memorable rooms. It has fantastic service with an incredible location. All you need is literally right at your fingertips when staying at this hotel. Don’t think twice, just book it and know you will have a fantastic experience in Florence.

Need to know

Need to Know: I recommend The Gallery Art Hotel for families, solo travelers and couples. This hotel is perfect for any family that wants to be close to the action, likes luxury and loves boutique hotels. The other two Ferragamo hotels are larger, and you feel that the minute you go into their property’s lobbies. Prime location and vibe for you and your group to relax and talk about each day you’ve had.

Location: Situated two blocks from the Ponte Vecchio it’s easy access for a taxi to come in and pick you up or drop you off. It’s extremely walkable to all the major attractions as well as the local side on the other side of the Arno. From the train station, it is about a 10 minute drive or a 20-minute walk across town. I recommend a drop-off via a car/taxi as the city has cobble-stones and it’s tough to pull all your luggage.
