Curator’s statement
In 2025, my husband and I ventured on our first trip abroad to the UK for our 15-year wedding anniversary. After exploring London shortly, we settled in Edinburgh, Scotland, at The Caledonian. The Caledonian was dreamy and everything I imagined Scotland to be. Perfectly located at the west end of Princes Street, we were greeted daily by stunning views of Edinburgh Castle.

We arrived in Edinburgh via Lner train from London. We were tired but excited, nonetheless. The trek was made towards our hotel, the luxurious Caledonian.
First impressions
From the outside, the building stands tall and on its own between Princes Street, Lothian Road, and Rutland Street. It is a gorgeous building that we would later find was built directly on top of the former Edinburgh Princes Street Railway Station.

Accommodation
Upon entering, we were greeted by a kind doorman and a concierge that immediately took our luggage while we waited to get checked in.
After check-in, we headed to the 5th floor and took in the first views of our amazing room. Our king-sized bed, large TV, sitting chair, and desk were gorgeously arranged and spacious to boot. We were welcomed with locally sourced chocolates, which were a sweet touch. The bathroom was spacious, too, with the most luxurious amenities including complimentary robes and slippers. Although we did not book a castle view, we were greeted with views of western Edinburgh.

Dining & amenities
The Caledonian boasts two restaurants, The Court and 1925 at the Pompadour (Scottish seafood fine dining). It also has The Caley Bar for those who enjoy cocktails.
Spa treatments are available by appointment.
Private Bentley transfers are available during your stay but must be booked in advance through the concierge.

While we did not spend too much time in the hotel, we did enjoy the amenities it has to offer. We went on our anniversary trip in early April, which in Scotland still brings very cool and, at times, rainy conditions. Every evening though, we would kick off our walking shoes, put on our robes and slippers, and head down to the complimentary steam room, sauna, pool, and jacuzzi. We also dined for a breakfast buffet at The Court located within.

In sum
While our time in Edinburgh was only five days long, The Caledonian made it truly memorable. From the kind, knowledgeable staff and the great location to the beauty of the building itself. The Caledonian is at the top of my list for Edinburgh stays and we will be returning soon!
