Curator’s statement
Grenada surprised me with the variety of its luxury hotels, while the island beyond them still felt wonderfully low-key. You can move easily between beautiful hotels, colorful streets, rainforests, waterfalls, spice stalls, and local restaurants, all without feeling as though everything has been designed purely for visitors. It feels warm, safe, and welcoming, with local guides who bring the destination to life. Grenada has a lot of what you hope for in the Caribbean, but it still feels a little less obvious.

I went to Grenada expecting beautiful beaches and very good hotels. What surprised me was how excellent the hotels were, while the island itself still felt refreshingly real. Not everything has been polished for tourism, and I mean that as a compliment.

Grand Anse Beach, one of Grenada’s best-known stretches of sand
The green interior may have been my favorite part. One morning took us from the spice market in St. George’s into the rainforest and on to Annandale Falls. Later, we walked farther into the countryside to Mt. Carmel Falls, which felt wilder and was absolutely worth the effort. At the House of Chocolate, we watched Grenadian cacao become chocolate, and I sampled enough to consider the research very thorough.

Grenada’s lush interior was one of the highlights of my trip.
What also stood out was how local the experience felt. The guides we met were Grenadian and knew the island from the inside, not from a script. That made even the drives and smaller stops between the main sights feel memorable.

There is no single best hotel in Grenada. Six Senses La Sagesse is peaceful, private, and strong on wellness, with beautiful villas and a team that made my birthday stay feel incredibly personal. Calabash is intimate, family-owned, and quietly elegant, with naturally attentive service. Silversands Grand Anse has a sleek, contemporary feel, an iconic pool, an impressive spa, and multi-bedroom Beach Villas.

Calabash combines intimate scale with thoughtful, highly personal service.

Silversands Beach House is smaller, adults-only, and more hidden away, with extraordinary views and access to the restaurants and amenities at Silversands Grand Anse. Spice Island Beach Resort offers a warm, classic Caribbean experience directly on Grand Anse Beach. I also toured InterContinental Grenada La Sagesse while it was still under construction. It is going to be gorgeous (scheduled to open November 4, 2026, next to Six Senses).

Grenada is ideal for travelers who want an excellent hotel, but also want plenty to discover beyond it. It works for couples, families, friends, wellness travelers, and Caribbean regulars looking for somewhere a little less expected.
Need to know
How long to stay: Five to seven nights gives you time to enjoy the hotel and explore the island. For an extra-long weekend, choose one property and settle in. With a week or more, a split stay between Grand Anse and La Sagesse can work well.
Do not skip the interior: The rainforest, waterfalls, and spice-growing landscape are a major part of Grenada’s appeal.
Use a local guide: The stories and local knowledge add much more than simply moving between sights.
Choose your hotel carefully: The hotels have very different settings and rhythms. Room and villa layouts also matter, especially for families and groups.
For longer trips: Consider adding Carriacou or Petite Martinique, Grenada’s smaller sister islands.
Getting there: Grenada has direct flights from parts of the East Coast and from London.
I have stayed at or toured each of these hotels, and I can help choose the right property, room, or villa, secure preferred-partner benefits where available, and share your preferences directly with the hotel team before arrival.
