Rancho 'e Cuero: An Andean Mountain Paradise
Curator’s statement

It is hard to put into words how truly magnificent my time at Rancho e Cuero was. Rancho e Cuero offers an unforgettable experience, where stunning views blend seamlessly with exceptional hospitality. Nestled in the Andes Mountains, the ranch provides sweeping views of mountains, a river and wildlife. I don't think we will ever go back to Mendoza without spending time at one of the Palma Family ranches.

Rancho e Cuero is not just a destination. It’s a living testament to over 250 years of family history. Owned by the Palma family for generations, the ranch is a deeply personal venture, with every member of the family involved in its daily operations. Ricardo and Analicia began hosting guests at the ranch over two decades ago, and today, the tradition continues through their six children. During your visit, one of the Palma children will be your dedicated host, ensuring a unique, intimate experience. We were fortunate to meet Ricardo and Analicia during our stay. They shared stories about the ranch’s rich 250-year history was an unforgettable experience. It’s clear that this family’s legacy is not only one of incredible history but also of warmth, generosity and a deep love for the land they’ve nurtured.

Located about two hours outside of Mendoza, Rancho e Cuero is a serene escape, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. With no restaurants or businesses nearby, the ranch offers everything you need in one place. Whether you’re horseback riding with Damien, hiking through scenic trails, fly fishing in the ranch's river or simply relaxing with a book in one of the tranquil outdoor spaces, the ranch provides the perfect setting for both adventure and relaxation. Whether you're enjoying a leisurely meal or simply soaking in the natural beauty, the surroundings create a tranquil, almost magical atmosphere.

Here, time slows down. This allows you to truly connect with nature and the extraordinary hospitality of the Palma family.

The food is nothing short of incredible, with the recipes being passed down for generations. From hearty traditional meals to unique, inventive flavors, each meal is an ode to the Palma family's culinary heritage. I can’t forget to mention the accommodations at Rancho e Cuero. Nestled deep in the Andes Mountains, the suites blend rustic charm with exceptional comfort. While the surrounding landscape is wild and untouched, the rooms are a cozy haven, thoughtfully designed to offer a perfect balance of natural beauty and comfort.

Whether you're here for the breathtaking views, the mouthwatering food or the genuine hospitality, I promise Rancho e Cuero will leave a lasting impression.

Need to know

Keep in mind that this is deep within the Andes Mountains. Everything from start to finish is incredible, unique and charming, but this is not a luxury 5-star resort.

This is for someone wanting to add a bit of adventure to their trip to Mendoza. It is an easy drive from Mendoza, but you do need a 4-wheel-drive vehicle to get down the last road to the ranch. If you do not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle, they can meet you at their designated meeting spot to take you the rest of the way.

They do offer a "Country Day" option where you can just visit for the day, but I highly recommend staying the night if possible.

If you do not have a group of people, you can be in the house with people outside your group, but you will have your own private room and bathroom.

Their "all-inclusive" program includes meals, wine, beer, horseback riding, hiking, fly-fishing (guided costs extra).
